Harriet Bohn Obituary

Harriet L. Bohn

January 11, 1934 - July 4, 2025

Harriet L. Bohn passed away on July 4, 2025, at the age of 91, at Saint Monica's Senior Living Center in Racine, Wis., after a long health battle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Russell P. Bohn; her parents, Harry and Margret Drier; her sister, Margret (Mathew) Caretta; her brothers, Thomas Drier, Joseph (Janet) Drier, Patrick (Mary) Drier.

Harriet is survived by her daughter, Christine Bohn; her son, David (Janeen) Bohn; her grandchildren, Serena (Paul) Zimdars and Stevan (Brittany) Sretenovich; her great-grandchildren, Zoey Zimdars, Luka and Amelija Sretenovich, and Dayna Stark; her brothers, Harry (Lynne) Drier and David Drier; sister-in-laws, Jan Slaasted and Toni Drier; and many nieces and nephews.

Harriet was born in Racine, January 11, 1934. After graduating from Saint Catherine's High School in 1952, Harriet worked at several banks in Racine as a teller, in accounting and as a receptionist for the Racine Medical Clinic. Along with her lifelong friend, Betty Piirto, Harriet moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., for a time where she worked for another bank.

Back in Racine on May 4, 1963, she married Russell P. Bohn at Saint Patrick's Church, and together they built a beautiful life with their two children. Harriet was a devoted wife and mother, taking care of the home, and later in life loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She took her grandchildren camping and shared with them her love of bird watching.

Harriet had a passion for her community and, with her husband, went to several protests against war and in support of human rights. She also volunteered at the Union Grove Prison Farm providing outreach ministry and at the Juvenile Detention Center teaching relaxation techniques. Harriet looked forward to her time with friends in a "Friday Night Group" where they would meet to discuss religious topics and have fellowship. In her spare time she enjoyed baking bread and making homemade yogurt.

Harriet's family would like to give a special thanks to her primary doctor, Richard Pierce-Ruhland of Ascension All Saints, the team at Saint Monica's Senior Living Center of Racine, Wis., for all of their love and support, as well as the team of Hospice St. Croix who were instrumental in keeping her comfortable through her end of life process.

Harriet's funeral will take place at Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home in Racine, Wis., on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with visitation from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and service to follow. There will be a private internment. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Racine Vocational Ministries is suggested.

I first met Harriet at the engagement party given by their friends. My future husband brought me to the event. We became good friends along with Harriet and Russ. She will be missed!!

My sympathies to the Bohn family in the loss of your mother. I was friends with Christine in the early 1980's.
