Jacqueline Faith "Jaci" Lunde

RACINE - Jacqueline Faith 'Jaci' (nee: Steinmann) Lunde, 62, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 11, 2006, with her daughters by her side. She bravely battled cancer for nearly 30 years. Jaci will be remembered first and foremost as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Jaci was born in Oconomowoc March 3, 1943, daughter of the late Roy Edwards and Lorraine Emma (nee: Weiss) Steinmann. She graduated from Carroll College in 1965 with a degree in Elementary Education. Her teaching career began at Webster School in Wauwatosa. After moving to Racine, she taught at Prairie School. Over the past 10 years, Jaci taught second grade at Mitchell Elementary School in Racine. Jaci was a class agent on the alumni council for Carroll College. She also was a member of Job's Daughters, where she served as Honored Queen in 1961. Jaci enjoyed having fun with her friends and family, spending time by her swimming pool in the summer, vacationing in Door County, cooking from scratch, and visiting her daughters in Chicago, Ill. and Colorado. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer (Neil) Hayes of Chicago, Ill., Martha (Lionel) Starr, Kathryn Lunde, all of Telluride, Colo.; her grandson, William Hayes; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert William Lunde, affectionately known as 'Bobby'. A Memorial service will be held at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 11th and Main Streets, Saturday, February 18, 2006, 1 p.m. with Rev. Creighton Kaye officiating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. As Mom would have wished, in lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, gestures of support should be directed to a memorial fund in her name at Carroll College.
