Jon Petersen Obituary

RACINE - Jon Lee Petersen, age 47, passed away on June 23, 2012 at Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary’s Medical Center with his family and some of his friends by his side. He was born to Barbara Rouse Petersen and Lee Petersen on March 16, 1965 in Groton, Massachusetts where his dad was stationed in the army. He spent his early years in Racine and in Eagle River, Wisconsin. Jon had natural mechanical ability and applied it to working with computers. His employment included co-owning an internet service provider company called Powerlynk, as well as building and servicing computers. Over the years he was also a salesman at Capital Toyota, project expediter for Ditter Homes, and sales coordinator for WASSUP Magazine. His first love though, was computers and he continued to work with them and do web design up until the end. He married the love of his life, Susan J. Daher, on June 10, 1995. They were married for 17 years. Jon enjoyed the outdoors, especially at the Dells. He was an avid jet skier and snowmobiler. He treasured time spent with his friends and family. He was kind-hearted and an animal lover. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Sue, his step-daughter, Charlotte (Charlie) Fernandez, his sister Robin S. Petersen, his nephew Brandon Johnson, his dad and step-mother Lee and Lynn Petersen, his step-sisters Anne (Scott) Gibson and Ashley (Michael) Weinmann, his grandparents Idabelle and Fred Reider, his aunts and uncles Kathryn (Don Riegelman) Rouse, Anita Oakes, Sharon Benda, and Jan (Vilas) Peterson. He is also survived by a number of special cousins, many of whom have been very supportive at this difficult time for the family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Rouse Petersen, his grandparents Art and Lil Petersen, his grandfather Elmer Rouse, and his aunt and uncle Beverly and Bill Helling as well as a number of close friends. Services will be held at Meadowbrook Country Club, 2149 N. Green Bay Road, Racine, WI on Friday June 29, 2012. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 am, and a Time of Sharing will begin at 11 am, followed by a buffet lunch. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. You were a great friend Jon. I can't believe your gone. You always knew how to make light out of just about anything. I'll miss your great sense of humor and ridiculous obsession with anything 80's. I wish I could have been there with you to see you off, but nevertheless I'll see you again someday. Rest easy Jon.
