Joseph M. Pietras

RACINE - Joseph M Pietras, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at his residence. Joe was born in Milwaukee on June 18, 1954. He was the son of the late Walter Pietras and Violet M. (nee: Johns) and Donald C. Akerlund. He was employed as a Retail Sales Clerk in Downtown Racine, most notably at Accents on Main. He was a graduate of Horlick High School, Class of 1972. Joe was a kind and thoughtful man, generous to a fault, with a smile that will be remembered forever. He was especially proud of his nieces and nephews and doted on them whenever he could. Joe is survived by two brothers, Jim of Michigan and Gary (Judy) of Zion, Ill.; and one sister, Judi (Paul) Holmquist of Glenwood City; special nieces and nephews, Melissa and Molli Pietras, Steven Akerlund, Alex, Adam, Ashley, and Abby Holmquist; stepmother, June Akerlund of Lady Lake, Fla.; and many other relatives and very close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steven; and very dear friend, Larry Moticsko. A Memorial service honoring Joe's life will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 19, 2008, 11:30 a.m. Private interment will be held at a later date. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are suggested.
