Josephine Buchan Obituary

BURLINGTON - Josephine Jane "Jo" Buchan, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Kindred Nursing Center, formerly Mount Carmel Medical Center. She was born February 4, 1926 in Milwaukee, to the late Alexander and Anna (nee Galger) Smith. Jo spent her early life and received her education in Cudahy. On May 8, 1943 in Fort McClellan, Alabama, Jo was united in marriage to Phillip Wayne "Buck" Buchan. Following marriage they made their home in Muskego and then Burlington. Buck preceded her in death on October 15, 2003. Jo worked as a Dietician at St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 7924 in Kansasville, serving as President more than once and had made many trips to Woods Hospital in Milwaukee to deliver cookies to our vets. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington and had volunteered at Mount Carmel Medical Center before having a stroke. Jo loved cooking and baking for her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her children; Denny (Jean) Buchan of Muskego, Sandy (Jerry) Graff of Burlington, JoAnn (Bert) Lois of Burlington and Penny Koch of Oak Creek, grandchildren; Sherry (Travis) Luedtke, Tammy (Pat) Nannemann, Michelle (Kary) Jacks, Cindy (Joe) Behm, Matthew (Katy) Buchan, Steven (Rachael) Buchan and Michael (Toni) Koch, and by 11 great-grandchildren. Jo is further survived by a sister, Tillie Jost of South Milwaukee, sister-in-law, Dorothy Buchan of Milwaukee and by a special friend, Dolly Epping. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, granddaughter, Amy Buchan, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 12 Noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. James Volkert officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the CHURCH on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 11:45 am. Private inurnment will take place at So. Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society of to St. Jude Children's Hospital. I worked with Jo at St Francis Hospital dietary. She was a woman with a heart of gold. My sympathies to her entire family.
