Karen Jeanne Larson

RACINE – Karen Jeanne Larson, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Karen was born in Decatur, Ill., on April 3, 1943, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Jeanette (nee Norton) Evans.
Karen grew up in Decatur, graduating from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1961. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Education/Teaching from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in Information Technology from University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
She was united in marriage with Ronald Larson on June 17, 1966. They moved to Racine in 1978 where they lived together until Ron's passing in 2019. Karen was a middle school math teacher with the St. Mary's Parish School in Hales Corners for a number of years, and then taught math and computers at UW-Parkside before retiring in 2008.
Karen was an avid reader and had a lifelong love of books, reading books from many different genres and enjoyed discussing and sharing them with her book club friends. Her interests also included gardening and artwork. She was a talented artist and loved working in a variety of mediums. Karen was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church and looked forward each week to Sunday services and her weekly Bible study group. Above all, she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, including supporting her three granddaughters by attending sporting events, concerts and theater performances.
Karen is survived by her son, Ronald "Andy" (Amy) Larson of Racine; granddaughters, Morgan Larson, Reagan Larson and Peyton Larson. Sister, Susan (Jerry) Semrod of Mills River, N.C.; sister-in-law, Helen Larson of Menomonie, Wis.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by husband, Ron; her parents; her daughter, Kimberly Larson Felber; her brother, Kenneth Evans II; her nephew, Kenneth Evans III; her in-laws, Irving and Evelyn Larson; and brother-in-law, Gary Larson.
A Memorial Service celebrating Karen's life will be held at the funeral home, 11:30 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2025, with Rev. Laura Fladten and Rev. Mark Doidge concelebrating. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with the family for Visitation on Monday, at 10 a.m. until time of service, at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at The Woods of Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made on Karen's behalf to Holy Communion Lutheran Church.
