Kathleen Daniels
January 29, 1945 - November 11, 2025
BURLINGTON - We commemorate Kathleen Christine Daniels, age 80, of Burlington, WI, who passed away at home surrounded by her husband and children, on November 11th, 2025.
Kathy was born on January 29th, 1945, in Kenosha, WI, to Agnes (Seistrup) Mico and Fred Mico. She spent her early life on a farm in Kenosha County. She was raised with values, generosity of heart and spirit, a respect for life, and a wicked sense of humor. Her Mico laugh would resonate in any crowd as her spunky spirit showed through.
Kathy attended St John the Baptist grade School in Paris, WI, and graduated from St Joe's High School in Kenosha. She went on to the Wisconsin Teacher's College in Union Grove and started her teaching career at St Mary's Catholic School in Kenosha.
Kathy married her true, life partner, Kenneth Daniels, on August 7th, 1965, and together they had four children and shared an amazing 60 years of marriage.
Kathy later attended Whitewater and Carthage College, earning her Master's Degree. She taught at St Francis Xavier, St Mary's in Burlington, and then on to Bristol, Burlington and Brighton Schools across a teaching career of 30 years.
She is survived by her loving husband Ken, daughter Colleen Bittner (and Paul), sons Greg Daniels (Jen), Fred Daniels (Christina Lood) and Joe Daniels (Dorian). Kathy had 12 grandchildren: Shane McCarthy (Jen), Kelsey Schultz (Michael), Aaron McCarthy (Brittanie), Colin McCarthy (Olivia Felt), Jeremy McCarthy, Nicholas Daniels, Michael Daniels, Patrick Daniels, Sarah Daniels, Andrew Daniels, Lauren Daniels, and Lucas Daniels. In 2025, Kathy became a great-grandma to three babies she would have smothered with attention: Lilyanne Schultz-8 months, Tatum McCarthy-6 months, and Mateo Daniels-5 days. Family was of utmost importance to Kathy and she loved when they could stay at the lake and share laughter, game time, and s'mores!
Kathy has two sisters, Margaret Bastrup (Bob) and Beth Arndt (Heiko), and a brother Paul Mico (Susan). She is survived by more than a dozen brother- and sister-in-laws and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother, and a large Irish and Danish lineage.
A wake will be held at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home in Burlington from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 14th, with the funeral service on Saturday, November 15th at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas in Waterford. Burial will follow at St James Cemetery at 12:30 PM in Kenosha. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Kathy's life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Harmony Club of Racine and Kenosha County.
We wish to thank Heartland Hospice Association and her in-home caregivers, Jen Dykstra, Mary Pieters, Patricia Rozeski, and Jennifer Robers. Also, much appreciation for great neighbors, Mary and Denise.
