MT. PLEASANT - Sergeant First Class Robert W. Jaskowak, U.S. Army, Retired, 86, passed away on July 1, 2017. He was born in Racine on April 28, 1931, the son of the late Thomas and Julia (nee: Laskovics) Jaskowak. Bob was united in marriage to Joan Kranz on August 12, 1961 at St. John’s Nepomuk in Racine. Bob proudly served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1968. He fought in the Korean Conflict. Robert was stationed in Germany, Korea and Addis Ababa, (capital city) Ethiopia, Denver and Durango, CO, Freeport, and Chicago, IL, and Camp Atterbury, IN. After his army retirement, he was employed at Sears and Turnstyle in Racine, and as an Industrial Sales Representative at Crane & Son in Waukesha. He was a member of Chosin Few, VFW, American Legion, Korean War Veterans Assoc., Berlin U.S. Military Veterans Assoc., 31st Infantry (Dixie) Division, DAV, and the 7th Infantry Division Association. Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan; three sons, Michael of Grapevine, TX, Stephen of NJ and David of Mt. Pleasant. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Sharon Balian of Florida, Pat Kranz of Madison and brother-in-law, Andy Paulson of Cincinnati, OH. Robert is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, beloved pets and dear friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas, sister, Irene Dellinger, mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Albert Kranz, brothers-in-law, David Kranz and Richard Balian, and sister-in-law, Kathleen Paulson. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, Racine on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11 am. with Fr. Yamid Blanco officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 10 am until mass time. Bob will be laid to rest with full military honors at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
