Vartenie Dadian

RACINE - Vartenie (nee: Taktakian) Dadian, 99, passed away at Villa Saint Anna on Thursday, July 14, 2005. Vartenie was born of Armenian heritage in Yenije (Tomarza), Turkey to Garabed and Shakeh (nee: Torosian) Taktakian on April 10, 1906. She married Mihran Dadian on July 11, 1926, in Greece. He preceded her in death in 1962. Vartenie was a devoted member of St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church and a member of the Women's Guild at the church. Survivors include her children, Mary (Mark) Akgulian, Margaret (Richard) Williams, and Shockey (Donald) Julie; special niece, Mary Ann Injasoulian; daughter-in-law, Margaret Dadian; grandchildren, Gregory Zaven Dadian, Michael Dadian, Lisa Akgulian, Nishan Akgulian, Mary Jo Williams, Michael Williams, David Julie, Karen Johnson, and Daniel Julie; 10 great-grandchildren; grandnephew, Garo Injasoulian; and grandnieces, Rose Ann Heller, Elizabeth Johnson, and Tamara Becker. Vartenie is also survived by many very special relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; six brothers; and her son, Charles Dadian. Funeral services for Vartenie will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, 4605 Erie Street, on Monday, July 18, 2005, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. with Prayer services at 6:45 p.m. Memorials to St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church or Villa Saint Anna have been suggested. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Villa Saint Anna for all of the care, respect, and love that Vartenie received during her time at Villa Saint Anna.
