Cheryl and Ray, I am so sorry for your loss and your pain. Alex was a special person I had the privilege of teaching. I'll never forget the first time meeting Alex, when he first came home with you to begin school at CK Burns Elementary. Cheryl, you were courageously trying to speak Russian and Alex looked to you for everything. He was the first student I had who didnt know what I meant when I gestured to a chair and said "Please sit down." Instead he looked anxiously at you for translation, which you gently provided. But within minutes of teaching him, he was learning English faster than I could even anticipate, and he immediately took to writing voraciously, growing his English minute by minute. He had so much bottled inside him that he wanted to express! His keen intelligence was evident from those first moments, as was his infectious spirit and ambition. May that spirit reside always in your hearts, and you find solace that you provided him a loving family.

Just met him last week with my son who was so happy to see him home. He was introduced to me as Russia not Alex he was my winning Parthner in beer pong. He told me about his days in Russia and his awesome life here with his loving parents and family. He spend the night on my couch and was a very well mannered and polite young man who also knew some of my other children. He was my sons best friends who was working together and looking forward to being future roommates. Are thoughts and prayers are with all his family in this difficult time. Fly High Alex you'll be forever in my sons heart and thoughts.

Alex was my best friend since we were 14. He taught me how to drive a car and ride a dirtbike. We use to jetski and ride his snowmobile in the winter. We got our GEDs together and even lived together at one point. He was there for me and was my biggest support through some of the hardest times of my life, but he would listen to me cry for hours and I would do the same for him. We talked about so many things. We would walk around for hours, laughing and smiling about silly things. He was a very hard worker. He wanted his own company and he wanted to have a family and children some day. He showed me what true friendship is and I'll never forgot all of our memories together. My heart goes out to Cheryl and Ray, who are amazing people and were so welcoming every time I went to his house or his family's house. He was the best friend I ever had and I miss him so much. He will forever have a special place in my heart.

I met him just last week for only four hours. From the very limited time I spent with him he was a was a genuine "can't judge a book by its cover" in so many ways. He was very outspoken on his opinions and beliefs, and at the same time calm, collective and intelligent. He told me some of what his childhood was like in Russia. We went on about politics all night. I told him of my desire to build a Banya(Russian sauna). He told me that was one thing that made life in Russia awesome and that he missed them. When his friend(who I met him through) would bring up fighting and how to punch like this or grab like that, Aleksie would join right in with his 2 cents... but he never once showed any ego about it or displayed a "chip-on-his shoulder" attitude I would expect from a man of his stature.
Again I say I only knew him for a matter of a few hours. I deeply wish I could have gotten to know him better.
