LYMAN - Sandra J. Mailhot, 76, of Lyman, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born June 16, 1940, in Middleborough, Massachusetts, a daughter of Gordon and Ella (Turcotte) Swift. She was educated in Willimantic, Connecticut, schools, and graduated from nursing school in Middletown, Connecticut.
On Nov. 29, 1958, she married Leo R. Mailhot at Sacred Heart Church in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Sandra was a member of St. Philip's Church in Lyman, where she was a choir member and volunteered for other parish activities. She enjoyed playing piano and keyboard.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Juhasz.
She is survived by: Leo Mailhot, her husband of 57 years, of Lyman; three sons, Leo P. Mailhot of Biddeford, Joseph Mailhot of Middleton, New Hampshire, and Michael Mailhot and his wife Linda of Old Orchard Beach; four daughters, Mary Roman and her husband Al of Charlotte, North Carolina, Susan Bennett and her husband Steven of Matthews, North Carolina, Theresa Khouri and her husband George of Locust Grove, Georgia, and Michelle Mailhot of Oakland; one brother, Albert Varga Jr. of Palm Coast, Florida; one sister, Betty Murphy of Deerfield Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, at St. Philip's Church in Lyman. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Biddeford.
