Called home to Eternal Life on November 24, 2020. Pastor Arthur W. Schupmann was born on July 3, 1931. He is the 13th of 15 children born to the Reverend and Mrs. Gustave G.G. Wayne, Indiana. He attended college at St. John's College, Winfield, KS. He began his seminary work with two years at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO, and finished his preparation for the holy ministry at the Orthodox Lutheran Seminary in Minneapolis on January 25, 1954.

Pastor Schupmann was ordained and installed by his father on February 3, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chesterfield, MO. In July of 1954, Pastor Schupmann was called to serve two congregations in northern Minnesota, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ponsford, MN, and Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. I was saddened to hear of Art's passing. I do know he is definitely in heaven enjoying eternal life with family and friends. May the peace of the Christmas Season be with your family.

I first met Art at the Princeton Club almost 7 years ago where we became good friends working out and talking about so many things including God, religion and sports. I owe Art many thanks for helping save my soul. He taught me many things including how our lives here on earth should be serving God and accepting Jesus as our Savior. Amen. Many Princeton Club members (very early in the morning members) knew Art, always enjoyed talking with him but could not understand why he would show up at the club at 2am and work out until 6am, almost everyday of the week. He was always fun to be around. They send their condolences too.

God bless you at this difficult time. I will miss Art.

I'd like to say I regret not calling him more often in the past years. He was one of my favorite uncles and although I don't remember much of what I did last week etched in my memory is the moment he introduced me to his future wife Dottie at my grandpa's (his father) house on Clayton Rd in the mid-50's. She was very striking and made quite the impression on a pre-teen boy.
In some ways he was like an older brother to me because of the gap in ages between my father, Art's older brother, No. one of 15 kids. He was a very gregarious guy, always happy, smiling, and talking, never at a loss for words.

Rest in Peace, Uncle, with your 14 siblings and mom and dad.

Pastor Schupmann was my Pastor and friend for over 57 years. We shared many hours of conversations at his home, my home, church and my sons home. He confirmed me, married me, baptized my children and then married my children. He knew my family inside and out. He also buried my father. I had many classes with him and also my other family members. We loved coming to listen to him in church at a sermon and listen to him teach us about Jesus in a class. Pastor surprised me and my family by coming to my first grandsons baptism at home from his retirement in AR. Pastor and his wonderful wife stayed at my vacation home up north for one week. They honored us by coming to my sons house for a pig fest. He loved the burnt pig fat. He came a couple times. My husband and I would visit him at his home occasionally. We really enjoyed the visits. I am so sorry I could not locate him in the last year. I tried. I wanted to do lunch. I am going to miss him tremendously, but I will talk to him anyway. He will hear me. Pastor Schupmann was more than a Pastor to and for me. I loved him and I know that he loved and cared for me. He liked to joke around as well. He met a man and his wife in AR who was from Milwaukee, and in transportation. Pastor asked if by chance he knew me. The man said yes. He worked for Overnite Transportation and was a salesman who visited me once a month. Besides business we always talked about our Faith. Pastor gave him his bulletin and a picture to give to me the next time he saw me. He did and what a surprise. Loved it. So much to say. He had such great regards for my children. In tears I say Pastor I love you and will miss our talks. You will always be my Pastor.

Pastor he will always be to me. He was a very influential person in my world, spiritually and personally. I often think of him. Throughout life, one encounters situations and or recounts memories...he had and will always be a reflection of what is good. He baptized, confirmed and married me and multiple members of my family.

Celebrating his contribution to this world.

I will share a funny memory.
When attending Saturday morning Catechism class at St. Peter’s we would often have discussions to understand depth of the Bible and Christ...often leaving my mind with many more questions and thoughts...never enough time, no matter I would continue to talk anyway...(chatty Cathy).
He stated a comment and referenced me and to this day my family and those closest to me still refer to that comment “Diarrhea of the mouth”. Yes i still talk a lot...I will continue to talk a lot and reference my Pastor.
With loving thoughts.

Sympothies and condolences to his family and friends.
Rev. Schupmann was my childhood Pastor and church leader until he retired. He confirmed me in 1991. His wisdom, teaching and teaching style will stay with me for my lifetime. He was an old school teacher before they called it “old school” . He had a seriousness in his teaching And preaching and yet “DA REV” could make you laugh with his stories. He was not only a Teacher and a Pastor, he was a “Shepherd” to my family. He was looked up to, respected, & thought about, by me, more than he would ever know. He will continue forward with the same recognition in my thoughts, & memories.
