Luhrsen, August H. "Augie" October 22, 1917 - July 14, 2006 August H. "Augie" Luhrsen of Dousman, Wisconsin, died Friday, July 14, 2006 at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc at the age of 88. August was born in Abbotsford, Wisconsin, October 22, 1917, youngest son of August Luhrsen Senior and Amanda Luhrsen. He graduated from Carroll College, Waukesha. He was married to Dorothy "Dot" Gustine on March 7, 1942. They were married for 49 years. Augie married again to Katherine Simpson after Dorothy passed in 1990. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and retired as a Lt. Colonel. After his military service, he worked at Falk Corporation in Milwaukee as an accountant until his retirement in 1980. The Masonic Order was of particular importance to August. He was a 32 degree Wisconsin Scottish Rite Mason; past Master of Waukesha Lodge #37, F&AM, Past Master of the Glenn L. Humphrey Lodge #37, F&AM; a Tripoli Shrine Member and the Dousman Chapter #257, Order of the Eastern Star. He had resided at the Three Pillars Masonic Retirement Village since 1993. An avid amateur photographer, bird watcher, and model train enthusiast, "Augie" will be missed by his two sons; Richard of Tucson, Arizona and Scott of Los Angeles, California, and their wives, Charlene and Antonia. Additionally, his many friends and his extended family including several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A Masonic and Christian memorial service will be held on July 19, 2006, at the Humphrey Room at Masonic Village on the Square in Dousman at 2:00 PM. Visitation from 1:00 PM to the 2:00 PM service. The "Colonel", as his family liked to call him will, be interred at March Field Memorial Cemetery in Riverside, California, with full military honors. He will be interred next to his wife, Dorothy. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Living Desert Museum, 47900 Portola Ave, Palm Desert, CA 92260.
