Carol Kujawa Obituary

Carol Kujawa

Carol Kujawa (nee Winkowski), passed away on May 26, 2021, at the age of 84. Throughout her long and happy life Carol was a deeply committed wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. The youngest of five children, Carol was born in Milwaukee, WI, December 1936 to Stanley and Frances Winkowski. Carol graduated from Notre Dame High School and later attended Cardinal Stritch College and University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

As a young woman in Milwaukee, Carol met and married Eugene Kujawa, her husband and love of her life for over 62 years. Early on in their marriage, Carol and Gene began their first of many relocations, leaving Milwaukee to live a fun filled life together raising five daughters and living in locations such as Georgia, New York, Michigan, and Connecticut. In Connecticut Carol was a successful Realtor for over 20 plus years. As "empty nesters" their adventurous life together took them to many foreign and exotic locations, even living in Bangkok, Thailand. Upon retirement Carol and Gene established a loving home in Magnolia, DE where they welcomed the company of family and friends.

Beyond her family and close friends, Carol maintained an active social life as an avid bridge player and as a member of a long succession of bridge groups. She was active in a wide range of social and charitable organizations, including Newcomers, Casual Dining, Catholic Columbiettes Council, and was a passionate volunteer and philanthropist of Caring Hearts, Helping Hands Inc. in Magnolia, DE.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Kujawa, her sister Grace (Joe) Czajkowski, her brothers Danny (Peggy), Jerry and Bobby Winkowski. Survived by brother-in-law Ken (Charlene) Kujawa, sisters-in-law Helen Winkowski and Gloria Winkowski. In addition, Carol leaves behind five daughters; Janis (Mark) Nicastro, Susan (Anthony) DelGreco, Mary Kelly, Laura (Joseph) DiPrima, Anne (Joseph) Ashcroft, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. As Carol joins her husband in eternity, she will be genuinely missed by all those who loved and counted on her for advice, comfort, and companionship, whether for a few hours at a time or for most of a lifetime.
