Carol Latta Obituary
Windham, NH - February 9, 1937 - May 16, 2021
Carol Drake Latta of Windham, New Hampshire, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully at age 84 while on vacation in St. Augustine, Florida. The middle child of Cecil H. Drake and Leota Meyer Drake, Carol grew up in a loving family in Villa Park, Illinois and married her high school sweetheart. She independently raised her two sons while earning her bachelor's degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee. Carol worked at American National Can for many years and became the only female sales representative at that time, masterfully serving her customers throughout the Midwest and developing lifelong friendships with colleagues. After her retirement in 1997, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren whom she adored. Carol's passion for women's education continued throughout her retirement as a devoted member of P.E.O., organizing numerous fundraisers in support of female students worldwide. Carol's avocation was knitting, and with her knitting group in New Hampshire, she made and donated thousands of hats, scarves, and blankets for orphanages, single mothers, hospitals, and the military. Her kindness and generosity were extraordinary, and she will be missed beyond measure and never forgotten.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Loree Drake Hamilton Callahan, her brother, Cecil Drake Jr., and her grandson Michael Latta. She is survived by her two sons David Latta and his wife, Linda Latta, and Richard Latta and his wife, Nancy Callan Latta, her four grandchildren, Danielle Latta, Nicole Armata and her husband, Robert Armata, Timothy Latta, Kate Latta Cassady and her husband, Stephen Cassady, and her three great grandchildren Parker Armata, Cooper Armata, and Olivia Cassady.
Memorial services are being planned and will be announced at a later date. Donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Michael J. Latta EMS Scholarship Foundation at the Essex County Community Foundation in Massachusetts at emsscholarship.com.
