Carolyn Bowe Obituary

Bowe, Carolyn E. (Nee Czizek ) Entered into Eternal Life on January 1, 2014, in Tucson, AZ. Carolyn was born in Dubuque, Iowa on November 15, 1926, to Matthew and Carrie Czizek. She graduated from Clarke College with an undergraduate degree in Social Work, and a Master's Degree from Catholic University in Washington D.C. Carolyn worked for Catholic Social Services for the rest of her working career. Carolyn was married to William Bowe on November 5, 1955. They were married for 56 years before Bill's passing on Feb. 1, 2012. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a very talented seamstress. Her friends, children, and grandchildren were the recipients of her beautiful creations. Carolyn's latest sewing project was making pillowcase dresses for the children of Africa. Upon retirement, Carolyn and Bill spent their winters in Tucson, AZ. Golf, bridge, cribbage and hosting parties for friends and family were Carolyn's passions. Extremely clever with poems and rhymes, Carolyn was always writing personal poems or songs for birthdays and special occasions. Always a champion for the underdog, Carolyn was a friend to everyone in need. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Carolyn was a devout member of Lumen Christi Parish in Thiensville, WI, and St. Pius X Parish in Tucson, AZ. Carolyn is survived by four children: Ellen (Jeff) Ehlers, Patti Frazier, Dan (Laurie) Bowe, and Michael (Linda) Bowe. Carolyn was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Nicholas, Natalie and Madelyn Ehlers; Andrew, Molly, and Danny Frazier; Christina, Rachael, and Will Bowe; and Kaitlin and Kristin Bowe. She is further survived by her sister, Elizabeth Feldt, and sister-in-law Liz Bowe. Preceding Carolyn in death were her husband, William; son Billy and daughter Mary Elizabeth; parents, Matthew and Carrie Czizek; and brothers, David and Robert Czizek. A Mass of Celebration will be held at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 138 W. Buntrock Ave., Thiensville, WI, on Saturday, February 22, at 12:00 PM. Visitation will occur from 10:30 AM until time of Mass at 12:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Catholic Relief Services, or a charity of your choice.

Dear Bowe Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. I was so sorry to see her obit in the paper. I am writing on behalf of my brother Kenneth (and Mary Alice) Brunette. My brother loved your mom and dad. As long as I can remember, Ken and Mary Alice talked about their friends the Bowes and the Traxels. They had so many wonderful times together. They were so lucky to have such great friends. I was amazed to also see that Alice Traxel passed away the same month. I can just see the six of them together again up in heaven - probably playing golf.
Blessings to the family.

Dear Bowe Family,
I was very sorry to hear of Carolyn's passing. I will always remember her good sense of humor at various family reunions. She was fun and laid back. I have been witness to various conversations in my immediate family about how happy they felt about being able to spend time with her last summer. I hope you all find solace and a steady return to peace with happy memories.
Sincerely,
Megan Walther
