Christine "Chrissie" Gaenslen

1948 - 2018

Gaenslen, Christine "Chrissie" Entered Eternal Life on Monday, August 6, 2018, in the early Monday morning at Columbia St. Mary's Ozaukee Hospital at the age of 70, after an unexpected medical emergency Sunday evening. Preceeded in death by her father Dr. Frederick Gaenslen in December 1992, and her sister Barbara K. Gaenslen in July 1956. Christine is survived by her mother Jeanne E. Gaenslen; her brothers Fritz Gaenslen (Kristin Driscoll) and Eric (Kitty) Gaenslen, and her sister Heidi. She is further survived by Pastor Eddie and Jean Smith, many nieces and nephews: Geoffrey (Lisa) Gaenslen, Rebecca Hoogwerf, Patrick Sullivan, Rachael (fiancee Chris Powers) Gaenslen, Katie Sullivan, Daniel Gaenslen, Kevin Gaenslen, and Ben Gaenslen; also by her dearest uncle Elliott Sweet and many loving cousins from the Sweet, Hegbar, and Alford families. Christine spent many years attending the Milwaukee Center for Independence (MCFI). The family would like to thank the very many people from MCFI who cared for and loved her; especially Sue, Barb, Nancy, Gina, and Stacey. The family also wishes to thank Christine's wonderful caregivers, Renee, Lonna, Sheri, Mary, Angela, and Sheila, who have become like members of the family. And finally thank you to all the drivers from Milwaukee County Transit and Able Access who picked her up and delivered her home every day for many, many years. A memorial service celebrating Christine's life will take place at North Shore Congregational Church, 7330 N. Santa Monica Blvd, Fox Point, WI 53217, on Saturday, August 11, at 3:30PM. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Interment at Forest Home Cemetery will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Christine's name may be made to the MCFI Foundation, Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Building, 2020 W. Wells St., Milwaukee, WI 53233 or to North Shore Congregational Church.
