Backes Family: We are so sad for your loss. We only met Daniel a couple of times, but consider Pete and Danielle life-long friends, and know how much they love him. We know he is in a better place, but it doesn't make those left behind miss him any less. Pete and Danielle, know we'll be there if there is anything you need. Love, Jos & Kathy

Dan...This comes from me the daughter-law of your youngest son. I just want you to know how much I love and respect you. I could go into a long story of my childhood and never having a father figure as I was growing up. The guidance and love you shared with your son through the last 39 years of his life has made me realize what I have missed, but thankfully I got to share the last 20 years(15 married and almost 5 dating) with you and Dave together...what a blessing that has been.
I just want you to know I was raised a Catholic my whole life and really never knew when our how to pray until I met you and Doris. Thank you for all the great times we shared together and for being there for your son, my husband and our family....I will miss you greatly.

Doug,
Our sympathy on the loss of your father. I experienced this a little over a year ago when my dad passed away. It is hard at the time, but you will always have great memories. Our best to you and your family during this time.

Dear Backes Family,
We feel so much sympathy for all of you, especially you, Doris. Dan was always such an integral part of the family. He will be missed by many, and we know he'll continue to guide all of you from up above as he reigns on high with the Angels.
We are sorry we cannot attend the visitation or the funeral due to other circumstances, but please know that we are thinking of all of you and praying for Dan's return to the heavenly kingdom above.

Uncle Dan,
I know that you're in a great place right now. It's a great comfort for all of us that you're watching out for us.
Say hi to Grandpa Mark, Uncle Matt, Aunt Noreen, Uncle John and all the rest of our relatives. Save a seat for us at the big card table.
Love,
Bill
