Not sure what to say?

February 9, 2013

Dear Mary and Batiolla family:
Although I could not make it to the celebration of Dan's life, I was there in spirit. I miss Dan for his joy in the people he knew and loved. He will be remembered for his love of people, over the love of things. He was truly a very special man whom I, and all who knew him will never forget.

February 8, 2013

Not sure if people go back and read this but my family and I want to thank you all for your thoughts, love, concern and presence in the passing of Dan. We will miss Dan but like many of you we will have our wonderful memories of him and continue to celebrate the impact he has had on our lives. Thank you Mark & Betty Julka( Dan's sister) and all the Battiola Family

A mans' life touches so many others. I knew Dan, when we lived on 52sd Street in Miwaukee. I used to laugh, when I would see him and his brother with black eyes from Rugby. I can't tell you the sadmess I feel hearing of his passing. I am so sorry to hear of your great loss.

My sympathy & prayers for you all who love Dan most. We worked together as grunts at the H C Prange Co in Appleton when Bob was the manager. Dan was down to earth bright kind easy to be with and hard-working . He never pulled rank as the manager's son. I think he was at St Lawrence at the time. I'm so sorry for his early dying time. I'll remember him and all of you at Mass this week. God be good to him forever!

My sincerest sympathy to all of the
Battiola Family. Irma Battiola was my best friend. I was staying overnight with her and her mother when they received such bad news that her brother was killed in the war.
I was with Irma when she first became an aunt - Marietta was born on my birthday, January 6th.
My deepest sympathy also to Bob and Hanky in losing a precious child.
I also remember Dan bringing his Aunt Irma to our 50th Wedding Anniversary and also visiting Irma in the nursing home.
May Dan rest in peace!

Mary, Bobby and Paula, Rick, and all of the Battiola family, Pam and I want to offer condolences to all of you and to say how much Dan meant to both of us. His sense of humor and wit made us laugh countless times. He was always ready to help me as I struggled to learn the great game of rugby- supportive and kind when mistakes were made, and quick to praise good play. He always led from the front and I was proud to follow him. I will always remember my friend, Dan. Peace.

Entire Battiola Family. Please know how sorry I am to learn of Dan's passing. Although I have not seen nor spoken to Dan in over 10 years, I know if I were to today, it would be as if he and I just spoke yesterday. As a fellow rugby player, I had the opportunity to witness what a special leader he was. Off the field, he and I would share our future visions with one another on what we wanted to accomplish and how we were going to do it. I would like to think he did that, and more, in the short time he was here with us. Please know I will always remember him as a good friend and that I, personally, was forever impacted in a positive way for knowing him.

God bless.

Mary, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I will always remember the last minute call out to Dan when we needed a last-minute golf partner for a charity event. He dropped what he was doing and was there in less than a 1/2hr. I know how much he cared about helping others -- and he made such a positive difference to many. Many loving thoughts and prayers for you and all of Dan's family, now and and in the days to come.
