I just found out after having a discussion about Milwaukee playground legends. We would be remiss if Darryle Banks AKA "Mr. Basketball" were not described appropriately. IN SHORT, HE WAS AHEAD OF HIS TIME. In today's world, his high school and summer playground feats and accomplishments would make him a top 25 recruit or an NBA top talent prospect.

Basketball was just the beginning. Daryl became a friend, a runnin' buddy, confidant, brother.
We spent two years side by side in Wahpeton, N.D. and 34 more miles apart but never farther away than my own heart.
Mrs. Banks, your son was a wonderful man. You know how I feel.
Daryl, I miss you, but I'll never forget you. Peace.

I knew I needed to text my friend for his birthday. Hadn't talked with him since both our dads passed away just a few days apart a couple of years ago. Didn't hear back from him, ran into one of his associates who shared the news. This guy played a huge part in keeping me confident, positive and sane. Something in my life was missing, and now I know it was that guiding light I simply called D. I'm struggling with now knowing I can't call him anymore. My Mr. PickMeUp! Never take anything for granted, certainly not a friend. May you Rest In Peace, and thank you for being my friend. My condolences to all who where near and dear to D.

I was awakened this morning to the sad and shocking news of the passing our my dear friend Daryl Banks. There is not enough room to share all of the experiences I shared with Daryl. He was a charming, outgoing intelligent person who was blessed with tremendous basketball ability. This is a huge loss for all of the friends and family who knew him. Goodbye my friend, love you man.

To the family of Daryl Banks. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. The Worthy family adopted Daryl as one of our family members many years ago when he was just a teen. His contagious smile, laughter and jokes will truly be missed. However, he will remain in our hearts and minds.
My brother Al wrote this on his facebook page and I wanted to share it:
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. Eccl 3:1-8 We celebrate the life of our dear friend. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you. I go prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, ye may be also. John 14:1-3
I know GOD will wrap HIS arms around you and bring you comfort in your hours of bereavement.

Dear Jade and Family,
May God bless, comfort, and strengthen you during your time of sorrow. I discovered as I looked on your Facebook page, that I went to grade school(Benjamin Franklin) with your father. This world is so small. I'm praying for all of you.

Ijust heard about the passing of "D"-Banks. Daryl was a fun loving individual, care free and equally competitive. He enjoyed giving back and he will be missed. I always enjoyed watching him on the basketball courts. He was a fantastic leader with tremendous court vision and an amazing passer. God has blessed "Magic" and called him home to a better place. Daryl's final assist was how he gave back to the kids. Rest in Peace My Brother.
