David Lewein Obituary

David Lewein

Longview - David Anthony Lewein, 77 of Longview, Texas.

The Lord offered His hand and David took it on January 31, 2021.

He was born on May 10, 1943 in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The youngest of 4, he went to school at Holy Hill Basilica and National Shrine of Mary in Hubertus, WI. After leaving the seminary, David continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin where he received two Masters and his Doctorate in Education Administration.

In the late 70's he met the woman that would change his life- Jan. They married on August 3, 1979 and walked side by side for the next 41 years. During that time they raised two children and ultimately settled in Texas.

Upon retiring from a rewarding career in Education he became an avid "cruiser" visiting not only the Caribbean and the South Pacific, but European destinations as well.

As a member of Judson Road Church of Christ he loved supporting church camp and young people of the congregation.

David was preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Sophie Lewein of South Milwaukee, WI. His family also included sister, Barbara Kobza; brothers Vincent Lewein, Tim Lewein and his spouse Cathy, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

He is also survived by his wife, Jan Lewein; son, Blaine Rice and his spouse Mary Grace; daughter, Neysa Lewein and her spouse Terri; grandchildren Brooke Rice and Logan Rice; he was also blessed with two gr. grandsons Jason and River; and a very loyal mini Australian Shepherd, Kacie, who never left his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
