Doris Helen Brostrom

Brostrom, Doris Helen (Nee Thurston) A long-time resident of Wauwatosa, passed away in hospice care in Surprise, AZ, of natural causes on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at age 92. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, Harry, her parents, and all her sisters and brothers. She is survived by two children, Candice Brostrom, Surprise, AZ, and David (Vicki) Brostrom, Waukesha, WI, and one grandchild, Leif Brostrom, Minneapolis, MN. Dorie was born on a dairy farm in Blair, WI, the second youngest of ten children. She graduated from La Crosse State College and took her first job in Elroy as a fifth grade teacher, where she met her future husband. They married in Dubuque, Iowa in 1942. Dorie later worked as a homemaker (where she created the best fudge recipe in the city), at the Chainbelt Company, and the Internal Revenue Service in Milwaukee. Dorie and Harry were members of Mount Carmel Lutheran Church since the 1950's. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 10, at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, 8424 W. Center Street, Milwaukee, WI, 53222. The church service begins at 12 noon, with a lunch for family and friends at 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association of Wisconsin / Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter (620 S. 76th St., Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214), or Mount Carmel Lutheran Church.
