Dorothy Hejdak Obituary

Dorothy Ruth Hejdak

Milwaukee - Dorothy Ruth Hejdak (Rydzewski), 91, passed away peacefully on March 25th, 2021. She lived independently and vibrantly until a week before her death.

Dorothy was born on July 1st, 1929 to Boleslaus and Florence Rydzewski in Milwaukee. After graduating from Pulaski High School, she enjoyed a long career in food service. She was a prized employee at Kurz Bakery for 10 years; the Deli Manager at Kohl's Food Store for 23 years where she led her staff affectionately known as The Polish Delights; and became "one of the family" at Scardina Bakery for over 8 years, retiring at age of 71.

Dorothy was married to Carl Hejdak for 60 years until his passing in 2008. They had three children early in their marriage, David (Cathy), Susan (Jean Van Dam) and Rick. Three more children came later, Patricia (Kent Klepper), Chris and Robert.

Dorothy was loved by all who knew her, she opened her home to everyone, and loved to decorate for every season and holiday. She could make you laugh out loud and will be deeply missed.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, beloved son Rick; her siblings Gladys, Robert, Ruth and Thomas and friend Ev Wilkinson. She is survived by her five children; sisters Evelyn, June, Lorrie and sister-in-law Marlene; brother Leonard. Six grandchildren: Eric, Stacy, Ryan (David's children), Chad, Rick, and Sean (Rick's children) and sixteen greatgrandchildren.

Private Family services will be held.

The Hejdak family was blessed to have their mother in their lives for so many years. Cathy tells me she was a very loving, independent lady. I am sure everyone misses her. But - fly with the Angels, Dorothy, until everyone is together again. Rest In Peace!
