They married on April 9, 2004 and spent over 10 glorious years together. Fiercely loyal to his Wauwatosa roots, his retirement home in Savannah, GA and his lake cottage in Oconomowoc. Accomplished amateur golfer. In his prime carried a "zero" handicap. Member of Westmoor Country Club for over 50 years, where he was past president and club champion. Avid enthusiast for the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Affectionately known as "Bud" or "Buddy" to his many friends. He was the perfect fusion of Holt sensitivity and loveliness and Baker ego and showmanship. Special thanks to the Nicholas, Nygro and Spencer families, as well as Gina Zlotocha, N.P of Compassionate Care Hospice for their unparalleled assistance during the last few weeks of Bud's life. His last message to his surviving family and friends: "Whether on the sidelines or in my heart, I will always be the one cheering the loudest for you." Our thoughts have been with your family and want you to know that a donation was made to the Evans Scholar program in Buddy's name from Sam. The love of golf was a true bond with Sam and Buddy. We know what a positive influence Buddy had with Sam in the short time they spent together and it is something he will never forget....

Our sympathies to the Baker family. Buddy/Dr. Baker was a great friend of our family and will be missed. I will always remember him with his upbeat outlook and his love for golf at Westmoor. Also my mother, June, expresses her sympathy as well.

My sympathy to the family and friends of Dr. Baker. I knew "Buddy" from 1941 on as his neighbor in Wauwatosa. Four years his junior, Bud taught me how to play golf. A highlight of my youth, when 16 Bud and I played the front nine at Westmore and tied at 38 each. I caddied for him in the State Amateur tournament at Bluemound one year. Buddy had an extremely likable personality and a subtle but rollicking sense of humor. Nothing but the fondest of memories of my boyhood friend. The world is a much poorer place without him.

I was Buddy's neighbor in Wauwatosa, four years his junior. He taught me to golf and I went on to play in college as well. One of my greatest memories is when at age 16, we played the front nine at Westmore CC and tied, 38 apiece. Buddy, most memorable, as one of the friendliest guys ever and with a spectacular sense of humor. Everybody liked (loved) Buddy.

Dr. Stephen Baker and family,
Your dad was an excellent and kind Doctor. He looked forward to his retirement and golfing. But when my own story was in the newspaper several years later, he wrote me a beautiful letter of how he too wanted to always reach out to people in need.
Although I cannot be with you on Saturday, my prayers will be with all your family.
