Eric Steinhafel Obituary

Steinhafel, Eric John Eric John Steinhafel was born to James and Jean Steinhafel on March 1, 1959. He died unexpectedly and was received into God's loving arms on March 19, 2019 at the age of 60. Eric had a deep love for his family and appreciated his many friends. He had a zest for life that was hard to match, and with his quick wit and life of the party personality, he immediately made friends everywhere he went. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and sports enthusiast. He had a specific passion for the Brewers, the Packers, and Marquette sports, and frequently spent his days enjoying games with friends and family. He began his career as a furniture salesman for Wickes Furniture in Chicago, and spent the last 37 years working as a furniture manufacturer's representative in Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his father James J. Steinhafel. He is survived by his son James G. Steinhafel, his former spouse, Lori Papa, his mother Jean Steinhafel and his siblings, Gary (Jocelyn) Steinhafel, Gregg (Denise) Steinhafel, Lisa (Judd) Kassuba, Linda (Ron) Stark, and Ellen (David) Lappe, as well as his many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sunshine. Eric's passion and enthusiasm for life will live on in the hearts and minds of those that will love and remember him always. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday March 30, 2019 from 5-8pm at the Steinhafels Furniture Corporate Education Center, W231 N1013 County F Waukesha, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Elmbrook Humane Society in Brookfield.

I loved playing pickup basketball with Eric in the driveway of his house. He was always a fun guy. Even though I moved and hadn't seen him for years my memories of him are all good. He was just a nice guy.

I remember meeting Eric in H.S. playing basketball. I used to ride my bike to his house to play one-one in his driveway. He was a funny guy and always fun to be around. In fact, all my memories of Eric while in H.S. were positive. I grew up with a Dad who fought in WWII and things were pretty "button down." Eric was the opposite. Always looking for a fun time and was truly the life of the party. I have to say I have never come across anyone in my lifetime similar to him. He was truly one-of-a-kind.
Miss you my friend.

Eric and I were in the same class at Homestead H.S. I remember him as always being a fun loving, nice guy who was fun to be around. We played basketball together and probably my favorite games was him and I playing one on one in his driveway. I don't know who could talk more during a game him or I...I think we both kept on ongoing play by play dialogue the entire game. It was fun going back to H.S. Reunions cause he was always so much the same guy...it felt like home. I know I moved away from WI and didn't see him much after graduation but I was not surprised by the outpouring of love everyone shared upon his passing. I was a better person having him in my life as a friend. God Bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Eric through Steinhafels. My mom (Gretchen Woyt) worked there for 16 years so we met Eric a bunch of times and he always had a smile and his sense of humor. We had many laughs. He will always be in your hearts.

I am sorry to hear about my friend Eric. I have only good memories of him from our HS days. My favorite were our 1-1 basketball challenges in his driveway in Mequon. He had a good soul. Bill Kaemmer
