Gene was the kind of guy that you could talk with and come away with an appreciation of who he was and what he was thinking. He will be missed.

I will miss Gene, we worked on many projects for the benefit of our KK members as well as Local 998 members. He always gave more than he took. His Alabama belt buckle tale is a classic. Pull in early from that last trip, the route supervisors will look the other way. Say hi to all our KK brothers and sister already in KK Heaven.

Gene Berger was a former co-worker of mine at the "Transport Company". Gene was a colorful guy to work with. Gene was a guy who would take no "bunk" from anybody, yet he was a gentle lamb of God who always nice to and respected his fellow man and all animals. People like Gene don't come along very often.
Gene is in a better place now, where there is no more suffering.
Here is a comment that Gene once made at a Union Meeting that I will never forget. The Union President asked: What can we do to make the Union Meetings more interesting and get more people to come?" Gene replied, "Get another 1/4 barrel of beer".
Gene was a cool guy! He will be dearly missed by everybody that he touched and came in contact with.

Gene was a very spiritual man. After retirement we chatted but never got a chance to meet in the north woods. We'll meet again in the real "north" woods.

I had the pleasure of working with Gene at MCTS and on personal computer systems back in the 80's. The man had a heart of gold and always looked for the best in people.
Like most MCTS operators, Gene would love to tell "war stories" about his time on the road. These were the times that MCTS operators enjoyed the most.
R.I.P. Gene.

Surprised to hear Gene passed away. I worked with him at the transit company and always had a great time adjusting his tie.

My sympathy to the family of Gene. I worked with him at the Transport Company. He was out going and friendly to all he met and knew. He will be missed at the second Saturday noon lunch.

Gene was our new neighbor and even though we knew him for a short time, he was a very pleasant man. Condolences to his family.
