Frederick Eckl Obituary

Eckl, Frederick Andrew, Attorney Born on April 8, 1919, on August 28, 2012, entered Heaven to join Evelyn, Karen, and Winston. Fred is the son of the late Frederick and Laura Eckl. Fred was married to Evelyn Kobs until her passing in 1981. Fred is the loving husband, partner, and loyal friend for 29 years to Rhoda Epperson Tuma. Father of John Eckl (his partner Debra Garven), James (Julie) Eckl, Linda Lehmkuhl (her partner Mike Ehrmann) and the late Karen (Richard) Schoenecker. He loved them very deeply and loved to join them in many social activities; he especially loved Sunday dinners. Fred is the caring stepfather of Greg (Jane) Tuma, David (Patty) Tuma, and Allison (Al) Bergemann. His loving kindness to them was a special part of his life. He loved the BBQ's, outdoor fun, and holiday gatherings. Fred is the brother of the late Harold (Margie) Eckl and nephew of the late Eleanore Eckl. Fred has 18 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren, whom gave him many joyous hours. Fred is also survived by nieces, and nephews. Fred is the son-in-law of the late Rosalia Epperson and the loving brother-in-law of Alan (Carol) Peabody, Pat (the late Harold) Henger, the late Norman (Margaret) Mayer, the late Myron (Bernice) Epperson, and the late Parker Epperson. Upon graduating from Marquette University Law School, he entered the United States Navy and served his country as a Lieutenant aboard U.S.S. Chippewa, during World War II. Fred was an avid golfer. During his golf days he had the honor of shooting 6 hole in one. He traveled to many great golf courses, but the ones that drew him back were the courses on Hilton Head Island. He was an active member of the Oconomowoc Golf Club from 1974 to 2005. Prior, he was an active member of Merrill Hills Country Club. Fred was a devoted attorney for the American Family Insurance Company for 39 years, retiring in 2006 at the age of 87 years. Thanks to all the loyal friends who visited Fred during his retirement years. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 6, at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until the time of memorial service at 7:00 PM.
