Dear Anne and the Luber family,

One of Fred's many contributions to the Milwaukee community was his support of school choice. Thanks to him and his colleagues - especially Steve Graff and Bob O'Toole - tens of thousands of Milwaukee parents can choose the schools best for their children.

I remember in particular his commitment to the issue and his many kindnesses to me during a particularly challenging effort to advance this public policy. He was invariably warm, encouraging, and engaged and like so many others, I always was delighted to see him.

Lucky Wisconsin, to have such a wonderful citizen. Our condolences to his family.

Fred will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. He was an original. A self-made business and charitable leader of intelligence, humor and integrity. Our prayers and wishes are with his family.

We loved Fred and love Ann. They were a great team and taught many of us what it means to be charitable, both financially and with their personal time and talent. Fred was a great businessman and I enjoyed my time on his board and his zest for life. Laughter was only just around the corner no matter how serious the situation. As a banker, one of the greatest compliments we give and it was said many times about Fred, was that he was a "stand up guy". His word was good. Our prayers are with the family as they celebrate his life. We will miss him.

My summers, my life, would not be as is if not for this man. He was an industrialist from Milwaukee who decided to take a chance on a run- down fishing resort in Door County, Wisconsin and open it for the type of family vacation that many have forgotten about. The "modified family" vacation meant swimming, fishing, boating, skiing, square dances, crayfish catching, bonfires, and s'mores that my taste buds are still tantalized by to this day.

I met my future wife, Jenn Barthelemy during the experience. Fred created dreams for many.

My condolences to Anne, Martha, and Paul. I'll never forget your graciousness.

Dear Anne, Paul, Martha and Elizabeth-

Fran and I extend our deepest condolences to you and the entire Luber family on the passing of Fred. He was always one of my favorite clients at Arthur Andersen - we would get into some really deep and thoughtful discussions about accounting matters, the annual audit etc. And, of course, nothing gave me more pleasure than reminiscing with him about the good old days while having a drink at Fred & Fuzzy's during the times we would be staying at Little Sister Resort. He was quite the businessman and an incredibly intelligent and interesting person. Fred will definitely be missed!

Dear Anne, Paul, Martha and Elisabeth,

We pray for you to have strength at this time. But the memories we all have of Fred indeed do cheer us all--his humor, vibrancy, forcefulness and interest in new things. He was a good influence on many people and on our community, so will be greatly misses. I will miss meeting with him, when he never had anything but positive approaches to matters. Wish that Bernie and I could be with you on Saturday. God bless you all.

I learned so much from Fred after working for him nearly 20 years. He was a wonderful mentor and friend. I'll always remember my first sail boat excursion in Door County on the SULU- so much fun! God's blessings to Anne, Paul, Martha, Liz and the entire Luber family. What a gift to all of you to have had Fred in your lives for so many years. He loved and cherished his family so very much. There are no words to express my deep sadness for the loss of such a dear man. My sincerest sympathies to all of you.

Mrs Luber, Paul, Martha and Elizabeth. What a wonderful man. The memories of him and your family go back 50 years but the ones I will treasure were the kindness you showed with your many visits after my dad got sick. You will never know how much both he and I appreciated them. Mr Luber meant a great deal to my whole family but especially my dad. All memories of the days of Fairy Chasm include him and all the Lubers. My thoughts are with you all.

Dear Anne and the greater Luber clan. Very sorry that we can not express our condolences in person. We're honoring Fred in the only way we can at the moment. Embracing life to the fullest and at the end of the day, enjoying a glass of wine or two... He was muched loved by the Downey clan and will always be in our hearts. RIP.
