G. Stone Obituary

Stone, G. Vaughn Passed away at his home in Washington County and into the arms of his loving Savior on Nov. 8, 2012. He was born in Abilene, TX to Victor and Christeen (Pack) Stone on Aug. 20, 1943. He graduated from Northwestern College in Minneapolis with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1965 and from the University of Minnesota with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 1970. He worked as a psychologist for the Department of Veteran Affairs from 1968 until 1995 in Minneapolis, MN, Lebanon, PA and Milwaukee, WI and for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections from 1998 until 2003. He taught part time throughout his career as a psychologist at Marquette and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Vaughn loved spending time outdoors cultivating beautiful flowers and a variety of vegetables in his many gardens or swimming laps in his pool. He was also an avid reader, pouring over everything from the latest news reports, to his poetry books, to the well worn pages of his Bible. He modeled strength and perseverance every day of his life. In his earlier years this involved running marathons, climbing mountains and regularly biking century rides. Later it showed itself in his day by day efforts to rebound from a bicycle accident that caused a major stroke. Loving husband of Christine Stone for 10 years. Beloved father of Lara (Mike) Bowman, Greg (Younghee) Stone, Geno (Tina) Balistreire, Steve (Robyn) Drajeske and Mary (Jeff) Balogh. Dear son of Christeen Stone. Proud grandpa of Katelyn, Nathan, Abigail, Rebekah, Amanda (Ryan), Zack and Jake. Brother of Gary (Lori) Stone, Ron (Beth) Stone, Jan Stone and Barbara (Chris) Keith. Preceded in death by his father, Victor Stone. Further survived by loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation at the Funeral Home on Tues., Nov. 13 from 4-6PM. Funeral service 6PM. Private interment. If desired, memorials to Samaritan's Purse or the charity of your choice appreciated.
