He was preceded in death by his twin children, Timothy and Kathleen. Proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. George was born Feb. 12, 1924 in Coleman, WI, the second of 5 children born to Edward and Angela Daley. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and John. After the war, George attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison and graduated from Marquette University Medical School. He was a life-long believer in hard work and had the good fortune to work full-time until his death. He was a member of the medical staff in General Surgery at St. Joseph's and St. Michael's Hospitals and a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Appointed to the State of Wisconsin Medical Examining Board in 1979, he served as its Chairman from 1982-1983. His wife, Ave Maria, was his constant loving companion and a source of his strength and joy for 58 years. A lifelong Green Bay Packer fan, he held season tickets since 1956 and attended every Championship game. He enjoyed water-skiing, tennis, and playing Sheepshead. He was an avid fisherman (and line detangler) and loved spending time with his family in Northern Wisconsin. Active until the day he died, he enjoyed jogging and walking in Honey Creek Parkway, listening to classical and Irish music, spending time in the sun, and solving crossword puzzles. He was also an avid reader of literature and a history buff.

I worked with Dr.Daley since 1993. We grew in the Department of Corrections. We worked together on many issues and met throughout the state to address the needs of the population we served. He was a great person and hard worker. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I have many fond memories of Dr. Daley and the whole Daley clan. Some of us grew up together for one week each year at Holiday Acres. I will remember Dr. Daley sitting on the bench at Holiday Acres wearing his worn, faded, soft hat, with his family scattered about the beach, smiling, happy, and joking. Thanks for the memories Dr. Daley.

I got to know Dr. Daley as a nurse in OSCI in 1994 and later worked with him at DCI. He was obviously a very humble person, since I did not fully realize how much he contributed to the medical field and at the same time maintain a strong family relationship. I am honored to have known him and will keep him and the family in my prayers.

Dearest Daley's,

We were so sorry and saddened to hear about Uncle George. I remember the fun we had growing up when our families got together. And a certain amount of mischief as well:-) Uncle George and those memories will stay in my heart. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God hold all of you in the palm of His hand.

Dr. Daley was an attending physician to my husband, Bob, on a few occasions, and I cannot express to you how Bob felt about him. I had the pleasure of knowing him while I was working at St. Michaels hospital. Now heaven is blessed with a precious, kind man. God's blessings to you and your family Ave, you won't remember us I know but we are friends of Marilyn Malloy. May the wind be always at his back.

The halls of DCI Primary Care seem empty, quieter, & certainly somber without Dr. Daley. We miss him dearly. His attitude was jovial & positive & he cared about all of us. He spoke often & lovingly about his entire family. He was so proud of them. George was a wonderful man; no one quite like him. I feel very blessed having known and worked with him. My sympathies to all of his friends and family, for their loss is great.

I worked with George about 10 years at Dodge Correctional Institution. We worked the same hours 9-5, and usually walked in and out of work together. We had lunch at the same time and always talked about the Packers and Brewers. My Dad knew George from the 'old neighborhood' on Burleigh St. I'll miss him alot.
