George Pandl Obituary

Pandl, George J. Entered into the fullness of Eternal Life at his Bayside home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at the age of 82. George patiently waited until Sweetest Day, to join his beloved wife, Kathleen Therese "Terry" (nee Kraus). He is the loving father of, John (Mary) Pandl, Jimmy (Treasie) Pandl, Katie Pandl, Peggy (Donnie) Rytman, Chrissy (Bill) Griffith, Amy (Tommy) Nordloh, Steve (Sally) Pandl, Jeremiah (Ashley) Pandl and Julie Pandl. Devoted and loving grandfather of Michael (Tina), Betsy (Joseph), Sr. M. Teresa, Ruth, Matthew, Hannah, Zachary (Maggie), Conor (fiancée Sarah), Jenny, Carly, Oliver, Alison, Charlie, Katie, Joey, Maggie, Abby, Grace, Erin, Emily, Julia, Maggie, Marlee and George. Caring brother of the late Violet (Harold) Hadler, Angie (Vern) Netzow, Helen (Frank) DePetro and Jack Pandl. Caring brother-in-law of Elaine Pandl, Bette Lu Fountain, Dorothy (Jack) Thompson, George Kraus and Robert (Dee) Kraus. He is the son of the late John and Anna Pandl. George is further survived by four treasured great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many wonderful friends. George was greatly loved by many, rich with children and a much respected restaurateur. He owned and operated the George Pandl's Restaurant in Bayside, now Pandl's in Bayside, purchased by his son Jimmy in 1987. George continued to be active at the restaurant until his battle with cancer kept him from working. Some of his other children have kept his love of exceptionally good food alive with Catering Complete, Eagan's on Water and the Waterfront Deli. George had a genuine love for people, embracing unconditionally all those that came into his life. More than anything, however, his love for his family was paramount above all else. Every summer he bonded his grandchildren with the importance of family, taking his granddaughters to the American Players Theatre in Spring Green, WI. and his grandsons to such place as the Packer Hall of Fame and Chicago White Socks games, to name just a few. His love of books and the theatre was also evident to anyone who walked into his home. From the historic to the theatrical, he lived a well balanced life that he shared with his family. George was the type of man that set standards of living a good Christian life, more in his actions, than in his words. Recently he said that one of the things he missed the most, ever since his illness left him bedridden, is good food and good drink, he also commented that life is a funny thing, in his own words, he "envisioned life to be like the boardwalk, there is a time to step on and a time to step off." George, you now have stepped off the boardwalk, may flights of angels take you safely home to the most wonderful banquet of all, as you join your wife Terry. Visitation will be held at the Feerick Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 3:30 PM until 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Robert Catholic Church, 2224 E. Capitol Dr. in Shorewood on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials in George's name may be made to the American Players Theatre, PO Box 819-5959 Golf Course Rd., Spring Green, WI 53588, St. Robert School, 2214 E. Capitol Dr., Shorewood, WI 53211, or Three Holy Women Parish, 1716 N. Humboldt Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53202. The family has requested that their sincere gratitude be given to all the staff of Horizon Home Hospice as well as Dr. Tedmond O'Reilly, Dr. John Burfeind and the devote, Fr. Tim Kitzke. We miss George, as a good man, a good friend and a good cook. So many of my family's best times and memories are intertwined with his food and his family. I like to think that one measure of a man is the children he raises, and by that measure George was exceptional and loving. We miss him.

Dear Pandl Family;
My heartfelt condolence on the passing of your father. He was truly a inspirational gentlemen and it was my good fortune to have known him as I did. I will alway remember my first food service experience was working the St. Roberts St. Patrick Day dinner that He and my father as well as others started in the 70's. The work and fun that was had that evening was mostly due to your fathers skill and good humor and how your family worked together pulling it off year in and year out, remarkable. I would also like to add he was one of the very few of my parents friends that I did'nt mind calling me Billy. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Aloha,

Charles and Patricia Luckenbill

Dear Pandl Family,

My sincere condolences to your family, whom I have enjoyed so much. And what a beautiful write up to memorialize George. I would love to give you all a hug at the service, but am so grieving the loss of our 15 year old Michael who fought a good fight against leukemia, but joined the angels on September 2. I hope George finds him quickly in heaven....Michael loved to eat, and I know George will feed him well!

With compassion,
Becca Piper
