Hans Billerbeck Obituary

Hans O. Billerbeck

Hans O. Billerbeck

Saturday, November 16, 2019. Age 83 years. Beloved husband for 54 years of Sharon. Loving dad of Brenda (Kurt) Bauske and Hans K. Billerbeck (Debra Villareal and son Kaleb). Cherished grandpa of Kurt H. Bauske. Dear brother of the late Erika Rose. Treasured uncle and Godfather of Martin Rose. Further survived by cousins, Godsons, family members, and friends.

Memorial visitation at the Funeral Home Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 12 Noon - 2 PM. Memorial Service at 2 PM.

Hans was born in Detmold, Germany and emigrated to this country in 1959. He began his work career in the United States as a tailor at St. John's Military Academy and then he and his wife Sharon became the proud owners of Hans Billerbeck Tailor Shop from 1972 to 2017. Throughout his life Hans enjoyed dancing, golf, traveling, watching soccer games, and reading the newspaper. He was a very warm, personable man who had a wonderful sense of humor; everybody liked him. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Dear Billerbecks -- A belated message to say that I am so sorry to have recently learned of the passing of Hans. I met Hans through my parents as a young man needing various suits, slacks, and sport coats tailored. Hans left me with two unforgettable life lessons. (1) Always be prepared. In the tailoring world, this meant bring the shoes you planned to wear to the tailoring appointment if you wanted to walk out with slacks of a perfect length. And, indeed, perfection was often achieved with Hans, but the customer needed to be part of that effort. (2) Seemingly trivial things, if overlooked, can matter a great deal in the end. On my first visit as a young boy, Hans gently and graciously reminded me that an unzipped fly on slacks will change the fit of the pants when being measured and, consequently, their fit after being tailored. These are lessons I still carry with me and I credit them to Hans. Wishing you heartfelt condolences!

Dear Sharon, Brenda, and Hans.
Please accept Mel and my condolences. I wish we were still living in Wisconsin so we could be with you all this afternoon. Our fondest memories of the kids school years way back when were our times with the four of you and the friendships shared. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

My condolences to his family. Since I am 'vertically challenged' he did a lot of tailoring for me and always did a wonderful job. My dad went to him also until he couldn't anymore but Hans always asked me how my dad was doing - so thoughtful. We also shared a love of golf and we talked about that whenever I came in. He will be missed. RIP Hans.

Sweet memories of a very nice man. He tailored my Midwest Airlines uniforms for many years, always looked forward to stopping in and having a chat with him. A wonderful "old world" perspective, rare to find. Chuck Savall

Hans was a sweet man. He used to make suits for my brother. I also was a customer of his. Loved going to the shop and how we talked about Germany. RIP my friend.

Tante Sharon, Brenda and Hansi,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Onkel Hans was such a wonderful person. He brightened up every room he walked in to. He was always so full of joy and loved to make everyone laugh. I never heard my dad snort or laugh so hard that he was in tears, than when he was with Onkel Hans! A beautiful soul gone from this earth too soon. We will miss him but we will all be together again one day. Until then we have so many great memories and I think he would still want us to have that spanferkel to celebrate his life this summer.
