Harvey was a second father to me, and an example of what a father could be--warm, cuddly, intellectually engaged, funny, and close to his children. Nothing was as beautiful as seeing Ellie and Joe curled up on the couch with Harvey, each with a bowl of ice cream served by Rose, watching PBS news. I am so sad Harvey's gone. His family will miss him terribly.

Harvey was the warmest of people. He is also one of my all-time favorite professors. He spread widely the notion of K.I.S.S.: Keep It Simple, Stupid. A worthy credo for design and life, condensed to a simple gesture of love.

Farewell, Old Friend.

Harvey was a neighbor and friend for 15 yrs in Shorewood. We remember his love of family and study of architecture. He loved a long chat and a good joke. He was one of the 'Good Guys' .

I knew Harvey for over 45 years--since the very first days of the UWM School of Architecture. Harvey was one of the best professors of architecture an architecture student could have. A truly dedicated educator. I remember the many times he would stop by our architecture studio at night and on weekends to help us with our projects by providing his great insights into problem solving. Harvey was a treasure. I will miss him and his warm and friendly personality.

Harvey was an inspiring and creative professor. His teaching lives on in me and so many students who loved him.

Harvey was one of my favorite professors while at UWM School of Architecture and Urban Planning. He was kind, smart, funny, fair and fun to be around. He had great stories, brought donuts to studio at night and was a generous soul. God bless Harvey and his family.

Respectfully,

In the last couple of years, Harvey was a very valuable member of the North Avenue Task Force. We will miss his ideas and his presence.

It was a joy to work with Harvey, He was so creative and fun to be with. We were able to do work about transit station design and transit and land use coordination. It was so much better with Harvey's guidance and ideas. It has become very significant work that has changed the direction of cities and transportation.

I sat in on one of his courses and he was such an excellent teacher as well.

Our sympathy to you all for the loss of such a wonderful person

Harvey and Rose are great and interesting neighbors and Ellie was an excellent baby sitter for our daughter. We are very sad about Harvey and think it was must have been very unexpected. Jackie and Peter

Harvey was one of the first people I met when coming to Milwaukee as a young architect in 1969. We taught a seminar or two together at UWM SARUP many years ago and I fondly recall his coaching in what was a new venture for me. Over the years we saw each other only occasionally but I will always remember his warmth and kindness whenever we did meet. My condolences to all of Harvey's family.
