Helen Farrell Obituary

(Nee Hodson) Crossed over to the summerlands suddenly on Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 51 years of age. Loving wife of Donald J. "D.J." Farrell. Beloved daughter of Leola and the late Edward Hodson. Dearest friend of Roger B. Stewart. Friend to many over the years. Will be sadly missed by all.

Helen was born on June 14, 1953 in Milwaukee, WI. She earned a BA in literature and a Masters in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She worked as a paper carrier the Milwaukee Journal and the Waukesha Freeman. Her interest in natural health and herbology also led to a number of jobs at local health food stores, the last being Health Hut in West Allis. Helen was also active in Society Of Creative Anacronism and numerous other alternative organizations. She was also an Ametuar Radio Operator. She also enjoyed reading to the blind, especially to our blind roommate and longtime friend Roger. Over the past two years, Helen was afflicted with the chronic pain and fatigue of Fibromyalgia. However, the love and support of her beloved husband carried her through the worst of these times. Her passing was sudden, and will leave a whole in our hearts that will take a long time to fill.

Visitation Thursday, January 27, 2005 from 5-7 PM at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, LARSEN BROS. NEW BERLIN CHAPEL, 15250 W. National Ave. Funeral Service 7 PM. Gravesite service and burial will take place on Friday, January 28 at 10 AM at Sunnyside Cemetery, Racine Ave., New Berlin.

Helen, I thank you for rendering me an affordable (!) accommodation in your home on Mineral St. when I was eking out a living and MU tuition in the '70's. And the meeting of several long-time friends, there.

When I first came there, there was Janiece, the gal from Nashota, and I...(and you were the Queen of the home along with "Pricilla!"

Tempus fugits, and things change. So happy that you found Love, along w/ being good at cards, too!

My sympathies to your husband and mother...(and your friend, Roger, whom I met, once.)

Dear Helen, With the fragile and colorful beauty of a butterfly, you brought smiles into my life. So welcoming and accepting. A gentleness that warmed the room. I look forward to the time when I will enjoy your company, once again, in the next dimension of life. Blessed Be.
