Helen Navarre Obituary

Navarre, Helen Louise (Nee Walter) Of Madison. Died peacefully Wed., Dec. 21, 2011, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, of multiple myeloma. She was born in Milwaukee on July 11, 1938. A graduate of UW-Milwaukee, she was a social worker in Milwaukee, Fort Atkinson, and the Madison area, and taught classes at UW-Whitewater. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, PLATO, and Eastside Lutheran Church in Madison. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Margaret Navarre (Michael) Saaf of Madison; her son, Paul (Lynn Santelmann) Navarre of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren, Thomas and Maria Navarre; sister, Ruth Walter Schnell; very dear friend, Donovan Nagel; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph G. Navarre. Memorial services will be held at EASTSIDE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2310 Independence Lane, Madison, at 2 PM on Tues., Dec. 27, 2011, with the Rev. Michael Novotny presiding. A time of fellowship with the family will follow the service. Burial will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee at 1 PM on Wed., Dec. 28, 2011. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, the Ralph Navarre Scholarship Fund at UW-Whitewater, or Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills. Helen was a genuine friend throughout highschool. I respected her and loved her smile. We had a wonderful visit at one of our class reunions . I extend my deepest sympathy to her family and friends.
