We are all so lucky to be here to remember Hunt ..

Hunt has always conveyed a profound love for the outdoors. When a student at Avon Old Farms back in the `60´s, he deeply appreciated the school´s 1500 acres of rolling Connecticut woodlands with its streams and unforgettable Beaver Pond. There Hunt quickly became an enthusiastic participant in the boys´ Nimrod Club.
As years passed, Hunt´s focused generosity year after year in support of his old school was inspiring and truly impactful. Avon´s headmaster, Ken LaRocque, and I visited with him annually-out for dinner or at his house-sharing stories of past and present. A unique human in all the best ways, Hunt was dedicated to the proposition of "making a positive difference" in the lives of others. A truly great man of Avon, Hunt Eldridge will always be remembered!

Reminders like this suggest one needs to stop and reflect on what's important. ..that's what he would want us all to remember.

I woke up thinking of Hunt only to find he had passed. Hunt was a kind and warm person and just the guy you would want to be around more. He was very supportive of Lausanne Collegiate School where we enjoyed having young Hunt as a student. A real blessing to me and all who were fortunate to have known him.

I learned the sad news of Hunt's passing only a couple days ago. I was friends with Hunt in the Chicago area for approximately a dozen years, since we were about 20 years old around 1970 until the early 1980s or so. Although I moved away from Chicago and haven't seen Hunt for at least 25 years, news of his passing very much saddens me. I really wish we had stayed in touch. I remember him vividly---he was a good guy. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Kevin and I were so sorry to hear of Hunt's passing. Many happy memories of wonderful duck hunts in the timber at Greenbriar with him fill the mind as well as great conversations at the Lodge. May God bless you all with peace and comfort as you grieve the loss of this truly great man. He was a good friend and he is missed in Arkansas.

To the family,
We are saddened by your loss. Hunt was a great friend to the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, where he served as board member and generously supported our mission, most recently with our outdoor raptor exhibit.
With sympathies,
Nathan Smallwood and the entire Schlitz Audubon family
