I can't tell you how saddened I was to hear of Jack's death. I just found out today. Jack was a pure class act--as was his lovely wife Beverly. I have such fond memories of them. I worked with Jack many years ago and found him to be such an excellent mentor, insightful and witty psychiatrist, and just a #1 human being. I feel privileged to have worked with him and to have been friends with him and Beverly. I will miss them deeply.

I am very sorry for the loss of your father. I was a social worker on the team with him in the mid 1990's at Milwaukee County Mental Health, Inpatient unit. I remember him always patient, kindly, compassionate with his patients. He remained in good humor despite the rigors of the work, always a ready smile. I fondly remember being invited to his "gentlemen's farm" in Richfield for a wonderful meal along with another staff psychiatrist. His lovely wife Beverly proudly showed us the formal English gardens she designed and enjoyed working in. Although he struggled with his loss of hearing, he was skilled at perceiving his patients' needs. I remember him as gentle and calm, with a sense of humor, a truly nice human being who undoubtedly helped hundreds of people in his career. I was very fortunate to have worked with him.

I have fond memories of Jack. In the mid-90s, as staff psychiatrists, we worked together at the Milwaukee County Mental Health Division, Inpatient unit. He was full of compassion with his patients, respectful of the staff, but never ran out of insightful and oftentimes, humorous responses. It was a great honor when he invited me and my wife (Robin), along with Mary (social worker, therapist) to their home near Holy Hill. We got to meet his wonderful and beautiful wife, Beverful. Still fresh in my mind is when Jack proudly showed us his beautiful garden and the lovely flowers. It was really a great honor and privileged, and if I may add, fun, to have worked with Jack, even for a brief time. These memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. Our condolences to the family of Dr. J. Emil "Jack" Geist.
