Jack, that cowboy hat suits you, and I'll have to add that image to my memories of you. The smile is the same one I remember from our days together at Community Newspapers. You were there when I did my first interview and a familiar sight for many years after. You were always very professional and eager to get on your way to your next assignment -- a man of few words. I know that nature photography became an important part of your life in retirement.
Through you, I became better acquainted with Alice and was one of the key people who persuaded her to accept the nomination for president of Hales Corners Woman's Club. She was a tremendous asset to our organization, and we will miss her now that she has decided to permanently relocate to Arizona.
Rest in peace, Jack Plale.

I was in Wisconsin this week and was shocked to open the paper and find myself looking at Jack's familiar face.
I grew up across the alley from the Plale family and spent many hours in their home and with their warm, hospitable family. Although I've been gone from Wisconsin for many years, I remember Jack and all the other members of this wonderful family. Jack took the class reunion photo of SMHS class of '55 at several of our reunions. Had I not been getting on a plane early Sat. afternoon, I'd have attended the memorial service at First UMC, which was also my home church growing up. My condolences to the family.

I will always remember Jack as the presence that made my feature stories come to life. He was a good friend and neighbor to Mary Lou Stover, a mutual friend who died earlier this year. Alice, if you read this, I want you to know I would have been at the memorial service Saturday, but I need to be in Menomonee Falls for a churchwomen's convention. The Woman's Club board remembered you and Jack at our meeting today. Please give me a call when you feel up to it: 414-425-4066.
