James Goyette Obituary

James (Jim) Clarence Goyette

James (Jim) Clarence Goyette was born to eternal life on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the age of 73. He was surrounded by his loving wife, son and daughter when he found peace with God and joined his parents in heaven. Jim was a devoted husband to Kathleen (nee Maslowski), loving father to Mark (Julie) Goyette and Jill (Scott) Wright; beloved grandpa to Griffin, Clara, Parker, Wilson, Lucy, Lucas, and Caleb; fond brother to the late Thomas (Diann) Goyette, the late Donald and Karen Goyette, Ronald (Linda) Goyette, and the late Michael and Sharon Goyette. He was further loved by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. Jim was a 1965 graduate of Bay View High School and enjoyed planning their reunions. He served his country in the US Army. Jim was an avid golfer and was a member of the Grant Park Senior Golf League. In his retirement, rain, cold, wind, snow, or whatever the weather, he was golfing at Grant Park, Monday. through Friday, unless the course was closed. Family was the most important thing to him. He was committed to his wife of almost 50 years, was proud of his children, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing with them, and attending their sporting events. He will be greatly missed by all. The Family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at St. Francis Hospital for taking such good care of him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 9:30 - 11:30 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 4005 W. Oklahoma Avenue followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.

I was very saddened to learn of Jimmy's passing yesterday from my sister Eileen. Although I haven't seen him for a number of years, I thought of him often, and always smiled when I did. He will always hold a special place in my heart for his help to my mother, his cousin, when she was going through some very hard times many, many years ago. I regret that I was not able to attend the services today, and my heartfelt condolences go out to you, Kathi, as well as to your children and grandchildren. I will always remember him, and when I do, he will continue to bring a smile to my face. God bless. Alan Jasin & Family

Grant won't be the same without seeing Jim there. He was a great guy and I always liked to talk to him when he was at Grant. Everyone liked Jim and he will be missed. My condolences to the family on their loss.

Jim, you left us too soon. Jim had a warm personality that everyone was drawn to. Quite a guy. Fun loving. Outgoing. Passionate about golf. Strong in his faith. Unmatched devotion to his family. Good bye dear friend. You will be dearly missed at our gatherings especially our fish fry dinners. Thank you for your friendship through out the years.

My cousin Jimmy was one of the most affable, genuinely funny , sincere guy , that I had the pleasure of growing up with. Although he was a few years older than me, he always made me feel special, each time we came to visit from Chicago. He made people feel comfortable around him, and that is surely hard to find. I will miss him, and our sympathy goes out to Kathi and the children

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Goyette, Mark and the entire family. I often have thought of Mr. Goyette anytime I’ve been around Wilson Park. His energy and enthusiasm in coaching had an impact on me as a young athlete, and the few times I ran into him in adulthood always brought a smile to my face. Rest In Peace Mr. Goyette, and may the wonderful memories be sources of strength for your loved ones in this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Goyette, Mark, and the entire family. I often have thought of Mr. Goyette anytime I’ve been around Wilson Park. His love of coaching and baseball had an impact on me as a young player, and the few times I ran into him in adulthood, I always cherished recalling those memories and the smile not only on his face but the one he brought to mine. Rest In Peace Mr. Goyette, and may your family remember all the good times shared with you in this difficult time.

My older brother, Jim was always available to help, you just had to ask and he was there. He supplied all of us with lots of smiles and laughter and you could never stay angry at him. His presence added fun and enjoyment to any situation.
