I remember as a young teen in Wauwatosa living across the street from the Washcovik´s and often Mr. Washcovick would stop me as I walked or rode my bike by just to ask me how I was doing. I will never forget that. This was a genuinely nice family. He was a nice man. I´m sorry for their loss. -Donnie Schmidt

The tribute to Jim was perfect. I especially liked this line: " 'Be kind' was his motto, and he exemplified it throughout his entire life." He and Bev have always been special friends to the local charity, HOPE Network for Single Mothers. Years ago, they stored cribs in their garage for us, to be given to infants without a safe place to sleep. In December, their basement was full of gifts that had been donated to HOPE Network. They would search the pile for an age-appropriate toy or a clothing item for each child, filling a bag for each of the 100 families who would attend our Christmas party. We'll miss your kind, good-natured ways, Jim!

Dear Bev, Annie, Jim, Patty, Amy, John, and Joe, I was sorry to hear of Jim's death. I sure had great memories of him! He was a super neighbor to my mom and to us Crabtree children. I loved how he called across the street when he'd see me: "Hey, Oshkosh"! His faith was inspirational, and I remember how your family prayed in the car before leaving on one of your summer road trips. He wrote letters to me while Pete and I and the boys lived in England those 2 years, as he was a big fan of James Herriot's books about Yorkshire --- loved getting letters from back home as I was always a bit homesick. love, jean

Sympathy to the family from Kathy Gale, we grew up down the street on Richmond Court. I remember Mr. Washcovick as a very kind man with a busy family. Lots of good memories of kick the can and more.

A good book in the hot afternoon summer sun, sitting shirtless in his lawn chair with a popsicle. That's how we will remember our Jim.
