Rest in Peace
June 24, 2009
Karen, I was shocked to learn of Jim's death while attending a CE class yesterday & talking with AF Agt. Don Dahlke. My sincere sympathy to all of you. You may not remeber me, but I hired Jim 30+ yrs. ago in Milw. & then he took the position I left when going to Chgo. area. Unfortunately, our paths never crossed after my departure in 1971. I left Am. Fam. as an Agent in 1985 - have been an Independent Agent in Marshfield since - still working despite turning 70 next Monday. Jane & I have almost 42 yrs. of happy marriage, 2 married daughters & a son who will be married in Oct. - 1st time at age 34. We also have 4 grandchildren. I had a bout with cancer in 1991 - esophagael cancer surgery. It took 35 pounds off me but I am still around. Jim was such a great guy and I am sure you will all miss him tremendously. God's Blessings. If you ever get up this way, give us a call. Jim & Jane Schalow 207 W. Upham St. Marshfield, Wi. 54449 715)387-3477 (S & S Ins.)

Jim will be loved and missed for his optimism in life, his laughter, his great sense of adventure in the natural world and for the rare, valuable friendship he provided my Dad. Jim made us all better people for knowing him.

I remember going upnorth one year with my friends and we went to these islands. My sister and I were fighting over naming the islands, so my Grandpa came up with "Kanick Island," [Katie and Nikki put together]. Even though there are so many more memories I'll cherish, this one is my favorite. I loved my Grandpa and he'll always be in my heart!
