Joan Wohlrabe Obituary

Wohlrabe, Joan Osborn Age 91, was born to eternal life at The Aristrocrat Nursing Center on January 8, 2015. She leaves loving children; Mary (Thomas) Domer and Judy (Timothy) Knurr of Milwaukee, WI, Bo (Ethel) Wohlrabe of Nashville, TN, Robert Wohlrabe of Naples, FL, Jeannie (Jack) Iannello of Maple Grove, MN and sister Virginia Merck of Little Rock, AR. Remembered fondly by her many grand children, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her adoring husband James, sons James and Thomas, her brother-in law Thomas and wife Charlene of Des Moines, IA and brother-in law John Merck of Little Rock, AR. Born in Little Rock, AR, she met her husband Jim during WWII at a USO dance in her home town. Theirs was a love story worthy of a Hollywood script. They were a devoted couple, enjoying almost seven decades of marriage. They were inseparable in life, nor could they be separated by death itself. To the people who knew them in their last days, the timing of their earthly departure is both sweet and sad - not tragic, simply poignant. . Joan was a proud alumna of Mount Saint Mary Academy, Little Rock, AR, a premier all girls school where she was voted Best Leader and Most Likely to be Missed, having become a friend to all on campus. Joan followed her southern passion with her tireless efforts working with The Ladies of Charity, an organization embracing daily prayer and providing personal service to the poor. As she dances her way lovingly to join Jim she will be remembered for her devotion as a wife and mother, always putting their needs above her own. The family will hold a private service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Ladies of Charity c/o Mary Domer at 4510 N. Oakland Avenue #403 Shorewood, WI 53211. The family is especially grateful and appreciative of the special care and services provided by Kathy Sears, The Aristrocrat staff and Pastor Tim Deaton.

Dearest Mary,
We are saddened to hear of your mom's passing, but believe in the joyful reunions we are promised. Your faithful service is a beautiful example to us all. Take good care of yourself. I'm glad I had the chance to meet such remarkable lady at our Newton ave block party.
