I was deeply saddened to hear of this tragedy. There are no words I can say to express my sympathy for Joel's family and friends. I can only offer my thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and to Amanda in hopes that they are enough. I have so many memories of Joel as I was one of his close childhood friends. He will truly be missed and I will never forget the fun carefree times we had as kids and the wonderful friendship we had continued through high school and into our adult lives. My only regret is that we lost touch several years ago and now I will never see him again at church with his grandparents or visiting in East Troy. I will cherish the memories I have of him and will never forget.

Joel (a poem about Joel)
Joel was a nice, caring, and loving person. He would make everyone smile. Especially me when he taught me how to play Mary Had A Little Lamb on the piano. He also was a right hand man for my mom because she put the handle bars to my electric scooter on wrong. He also fixed our garage door when it was temporarily out of order. You could count on him for anything. I know we are all devastated by his tragic death but now we have another angel watching over us.
We love you Joel and we miss you.

Dear Lou, family, and friends,
I work for Boston Scientifc in the HR department and although I did not have the pleasure to know Joel personally, I have come to appreciate what a wonderful person he was. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Lou and family,
We were shocked to hear about Joe. Both our kids, Nick and Becky, heard the news on the radio. Nick checked into it further to confirm this was his childhood friend. We are so very sorry for your loss.

Dearest Marino Family and Friends,
We had the privledge of meeting and becoming friends with Joel through my niece Talya Reilly. He was an exceptional person. Our memories are loving, fun, and now bittersweet...One of the best memories is him playing and singing Billy Joel's "Piano Man" at our wedding reception. He made us all so happy that evening, and certainly was a huge factor in our guests rocking and rolling late into the night...JOEL WILL BE GREATLY MISSED! Our Thoughts and prayers are with you, and yours.

I am very sorry for your loss. I have played hockey with Dominick growing up in the McFarland hockey Association. I didn't know Joel but I do know Domo and it's always more sad when it's a family that you hold in high regards. Please contact me if there is anything I can help out with. Flyers or anything.

I knew Joel very well throughout the course of my life, and I enjoyed every second of it. He was the kind of guy that you loved to be around because his presence brought happiness to everyone. He is someone I considered a role model; taking life in and enjoying every moment in both a personal and professional matter. I hope to see you again someday buddy, I'll always love you Joel, and I know you'll be watching over us.
