John Clyde Henninger, Jr.
John Clyde Henninger, Jr., 55, passed away at home in North Carolina, surrounded by loved ones, on Sunday April 4, 2021.
John was born in Rock Island, Illinois and grew up in both Illinois and Wisconsin before joining the U.S. Navy at the age of 20. He proudly served in the Navy for four years as part of a BeachMaster unit in Virginia Beach, VA and during multiple deployments in the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas. As a lifelong, passionate fan of IndyCar, Formula 1, exotic cars and many other things related to auto sports, he was able to work alongside his father, John, in the IndyCar series with Bear Automotive and Goodyear Tire and Rubber company for over a decade. John worked for Camtronics, subsequent related companies, including IBM, within the Information Technology department for 27 years. John donated his time to GPA Wisconsin in an ongoing effort to find new homes for retired racing greyhounds, ultimating serving as president for 3 years before locating to North Carolina.
Surviving are his wife, Stacey Henninger; his mother, Berta; his younger brother, James; and his pets, Enzo (greyhound), Maverick and Goose (cats).
A private interment will be held in the future at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (Black Mountain, NC).
