John Hitt Obituary

Hitt, John Thomas, Sr. 83, Sturgeon Bay passed away peacefully on July 21, 2006. He was born July 28, 1922 to the late Rupert and Ella (Moore) Hitt in Sturgeon Bay. John married Helny Knudson June 17, 1944 at Truax Field in Madison. He was 1st Vice President and General Manager for Cuna Mutual Insurance Society until his retirement in 1980. John was a member of the Elks Club and Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Helny and their children, John (Jeannine) Hitt, Jr, Pine Grove, PA; Catherine (Dennis) Caliva, River Falls; James (Theresa) Hitt, Baileys Harbor; Charles (Judith) Hitt, Cudahy; George (Sherrie) Hitt, Fountain Hill, AZ; Colleen Hitt, Elkhorn; Martha (Karl) Buettner, Madison; Joseph (Lynn) Hitt, Ft. Atkinson; Elizabeth (Aloysius) Acker, Waunakee; 25-Grandchildren, two sisters and a brother, Helen Gehlhaus, Medford; Mary (Walter) Frome, Newport Beach, CA; Richard (Margaret) Hitt, ClayBanks. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Mazzara; four sisters, Bernadine Andre, Doris Schmidt, Margaret Nebel, Kathleen Ryan and two brothers George and Charles Hitt. Funeral and Veteran Services will be 11:00AM Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at St. Joseph Church, Sturgeon Bay. Friends may call from 4 to 8PM Mon., at Forbes Funeral Home, Sturgeon Bay, then after 10AM. Tuesday at the church until time of services. (920) 743-6574
