Thank you Father Theisen for your role in the lives of all of us who grew up at St. Albert's Church in the '60's. You were our hero! I was blessed to be an alter boy back then - "miserere nobis Domine"

Such a nice man and caring priest. St. Albert was lucky to have him in the 60's when I was the little girl who lived next door to the church. We were blessed to have him on earth and God is welcoming a special angel.

I remember Fr Theisen from when I was a young teacher at St Albert Parish. He was so friendly and his enthusiasm was contagious. Everyone - children, teens, adults - loved him. Over the years I followed his career thru the Catholic Herald and thought he might eventually become a bishop, but I guess God had other plans for him. I hope he was welcomed into heaven by loving arms.

Fr. Theisen is a very important person in my life as he blessed our marriage 33 years ago. While Fred and I kind of "flunked" the pre-marital inventory AND we were an inter-denominational couple, when he spoke with us to review that inventory, he also listened to us. While he knew there were some differences with the traditions of our religious denominations, he challenged us to use this to help strengthen our faith. 33 years later we continue to be thankful for Fr. Theisen and his counsel. I've always viewed him as a quiet man of great wisdom. How appropriate that he should pass into the arms of his heavenly Father and Mother Mary on the feast of the Epiphany - the feast of the Wise Men. Fr. Theisen had great love for his family, his parishioners, and all he met. He truly saw Christ in others! I thank God for his presence on earth.

I was baptized by and named after Father John. My family refered to him as Father No-no John because my sister would say "no no John" when he would jokingly pull on her pigtails as a small girl. I was too young to remember a lot. But I hear stories about how he was so much more than a priest. He was a real person; approachable, relatable, and kind. When my mother was going through her divorce, she remembers John as someone with a kind heart and as her shining light in an otherwise dark time. My entire family will be forever grateful to have had him in our lives. His name will live on with my son, Wesley John.

Eternal Rest for Father John! I grew up with Father in Nenno WI -- we spent our elementary school days at SS Peter & Paul School. I remember that I taught him how to serve Mass. The two of us went through every move before we served for Father Kraus. Our families were close. HIs father belonged to the same Skat Card Club ... so the nights they played cards at his hour our ours we had great times together . Father had a fruitful ministry. We did not see each other much after I left to join the Capuchin Franciscans. Yet we communicated now and then. My last time I was with him was for his Golden Jubilee at St Dominic's. He suffered much from his physical conditions. Yet he seemed jovial through it all. ... so John -- 'til we meet again intercede for us before the throne of God you served so well.

Father John baptised me, and was a good friend of our family. He used to pull on my pigtails when I was a little girl and I would tell him,'no,no, John', and from that moment forward I always called him No-No John. I have thought of him often over the years, always with great respect and love. I will forever miss him.
