John Vogel Obituary

Vogel, John W.S. July 11, 2014. Age 83. Survived by his wife, Martha (nee Teach). Father of John (Carolyn), Jenny (Jim) Gettel, Elizabeth, and Jim (Ann). Grandfather of Katie, Sarah, Bill, and Steven. Brother the late Rt. Rev. Arthur A. Vogel. Brother-in-law of Katharine Vogel. Uncle of John (Beth), Tony (Joan), and Kit (Gaylord) Smith. John attended Shorewood High School and went on to Yale University (Bachelor's of Science, Engineering) and UW-Madison (Master's of Science). He began his career at Cutler-Hammer in 1952. From 1980 to 1990 he was Division Manager of the Specific Industry Control Division of Eaton Corporation, a division he created and built. In 1996, Eaton established the John W. Vogel Power Electronics Laboratory at its Milwaukee facility. John was president of the board of Our Next Generation and was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, Whitefish Bay, where he served as senior warden and volunteered his time and talents in many ways throughout the years. Memorial service to be held on Thursday, July 24 at 3:00 PM at Christ Episcopal Church, 5655 N. Lake Drive, Whitefish Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or St. John's On The Lake.
