So sorry to hear of your lost. Reading Joseph story was touching expecially his love for music and seeing how many loved ones he had. I am from a big family as well, losing a loved one to death is very hard to over come but the Bible gives us hope to see our loved ones again in the near future.

My great condolences on the loss of your dear father. He was a man rich in all the best ways one can be rich - love of family, people, and a musical passion that was infectious. We recently lost our mom, Grace, who along with my father, Bill Felton, were long time jazz supporters. My sister, Billie, and I went to Juneau too, so the connections to your family are many. I have a wonderful memory of taking my mom to Joe's 80th birthday concert/party. What a musician and what a gentleman! I was privileged to have known him and been transported by his music. With a smile in my heart,

What a wonderful man! We will miss seeing him and listening to his hysterical jokes. We don't ever remember Mr. Aaron saying anything negative about anyone. His long life has touched many people and made their day just a little better each time they had the pleasure of seeing him.

Mr. Aaron was NOT just a teacher at Juneau, he was an icon. You learned from him how to be a person of integrity and honor. You learned to be respectful of others even if you didn't always agree with them, they were entitled to their own opinion. I have had the pleasure of hearing him play in many venues. I also was a student at Juneau. When he walked the halls, he commanded respect not because he was a teacher, but because of the person he was. He loved us all as if we were his own children. He treated us with respect. He is the type of teacher we were all priviledged to know and love. He will be missed. I pray that God will wrap His loving arms around your family, and give you the strength and comfort you need to get through this difficult time. Mr. Aaron is playing with the heavenly hosts, and some of the best musicians and song writers that ever lived. God bless you Joe, and thanks for the memories.

Despite his full and colorful life, I was heartbroken to hear of your dear father's passing. I am sure that he was aware of the love that surrounded him by family in the past weeks and months, and that you are comforted by the memories you have, and ones shared here. I think of your father so often, and fondly, as he and my father, George Selaiden, played several shows together for over more than 30 years. His attendance at my father's 50th birthday party cheered him greatly, as did their friendship during that time. He so respected your father's natural talent and cultivated proficiency throughout their lives, always marveling at his energy. Joe Aaron was part of a unique time in history, when jazz changed the face of contemporary music. I so loved to hear him play his clarinet when I was growing up. It made that time all the more magical. And I feel his presence every time I'm in the old neighborhood where my grandparents also lived for many years. Your father will forever remind me of the special part of my youth when his intelligence, keen humor and kind heart touched us all. May his spirit be eternal.

I wanted to express my deepest condolences for your loss. Mr Aaron was both my mother's music teacher when she was younger and my music teacher. He taught me how to play the clarinet and sax. Mr Aaron even came to my school in third grade to play with me in the talent show. He was such an amazing inspiration to me and so many others. I will forever cherish the time I was able to spend with him.

Mr Aaron was our orchestra director for a couple years in the mid-50's and was asked to give up the orchestra directorship due to high blood pressure or some health problem. We were lucky to be assigned to his homeroom for the duration of our years at Juneau. What a lucky bunch we were! Squirt guns were popular in those days and we had a good time in homeroom keeping Mr A. busy chasing us. One day I stole one out of his desk drawer and he shouted to me "Miss Onarheim, stay out of my drawers!" He realized what he had said and immediately slapped his hand over his mouth. What a funny man he was and always so good to all of us. Stayed in touch with him until just a couple years ago. I live in Bloomington, Mn, have had a great life and remember him as having a very great influence on my life. Karen Onarheim Nordstrom

To the family of Joe Aaron,
My heart goes out to each of you. I am so sorry for your loss. We wish people like Joe (always Mr. Aaron to me)could live on forever. I know Mr. Aaaron will live on in my heart as long as I am alive.
He has never been forgotten since way back in the 1950's when I was fortunate to be able to take private clarinet and sax lessons from him for most of the 50s. My family knew he was the best in Milwaukee. Yes, he was an Icon & Legend but so much more. Not only his wonderful musical talent, but his patience, encouragement, examples and guidelines as a teacher that helped shape my future, that I have always been so grateful for.
Even though we have not lived in Wisconsin for many years we do visit the area and had the wonderful opportunity in July of last year, to meet with Mr. Aaron and his musical group when they had a jam session. It was so very special! His talent in playing his clarinet was an experience to behold, giving not only him joy but all those listening and watching him. We had an opportunity to visit and relive those student/teacher days together and was thrilled that he even remembered being invited to my wedding in 1960.
I not only have the Youtube videos to watch him playing on, but also took videos of him playing with his group that wonderful very special day last summer.
I know he will be missed, but knowing that he has touched so many lives in so many wonderful ways, I hope will give you comfort. When I say his name or think of him, it puts a huge smile on my face. And as I told him last summer, no one can play that licorice stick like he can. Rest in peace dear friend, you will never be forgotten.

CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF JOE AARON ON HIS PASSING. JOE WAS, THE "MUSICAL MENCH OF MILWAUKEE", WHO ALWAYS ALLOWED ME TO SIT IN WITH HIS GROUP, AS A VOCALIST, WHEN I ATTENDED EVENTS THAT HE PLAYED AT. JOE, WAS A MUSICAL INSTITUTION IN MILWAUKEE, AND ALTHOUGH, I WAS TRAINED TO PLAY A BARITONE HORN AND TROMBONE, I HAD BEEN SINGING THE STANDARDS OF SINATRA & BENNETT, SINCE THE EARLY 50'S, AT THE DRIFTWOOD LOUNGE, ACROSS FROM WTMJ-TV, THE HOME OF (DECEASED) GRANT KRUEGER, ANOTHER MILWAUKEE MUSIC "MAVEN", WHO PASSED AWAY SEVERAL YEARS AGO. I REMEMBER, AT AGE 12, PERFORMING MY FIRST PROFESSIONAL WEDDING VOCALS AT BETH ISRAEL ON TEUTONIA & MEINECKE. PLAYING THE TROMBONE IN THE ARMY, MILWAUKEE POLICE BAND AND OTHER DANCE BANDS WHILE IN HIGH SCHOOL WAS GREAT, BUT BEING THE SINGER, "OUT FRONT", WAS THE REAL "KICK". JOE, WAS ALWAYS KIND ENOUGH, TO ALLOW ME TO SING SEVERAL SONGS. ALTHOUGH, I MOVED FROM MILWAUKEE IN 1980 TO PURSUE MY CAREER IN BROADCASTING, IN LOS ANGELES,(NO SNOW) I'M STILL SINGING THE STANDARDS, BUT NOW RETIRED IN LAS VEGAS.
