Joseph Lubar Obituary

Lubar, Joseph Rochford Age 21 years, of Fox Point, WI, died just after midnight on February 11, 2011, from injuries sustained in a skiing accident in Colorado. He is survived by his parents Madeleine Kelly Lubar and David J. Lubar, his loving sister Hannah, his brother and pal Patrick, as well as his proud grandparents, Marianne and Sheldon Lubar, River Hills, WI and Patricia Reagan, Glenview, IL. Joe will also be forever missed by his loving aunts and uncles: Ed and Gail Kelly, Evanston, IL, Grace and Jim Adair, Arlington Heights, IL, Kris and John McDonald, Minneapolis, MN, Susan Lubar Solvang and Oyvind Solvang, Mequon, WI, Beth and George Kelly, Glencoe, IL, Joan Lubar and John Crouch, Mequon, WI and Julie and Jim Kelly, Sheboygan, WI. Holidays will never be the same for his dearly beloved cousins, Eamon, Brianne and Evan Kelly; John, Maddie and Joseph Thomson; Simen, Isabelle and Sonja Solvang; Caitlin, Kelly and Kevin Adair; Isaac and Charlotte Siegel and Max Crouch; Collin and Brady Kelly; Brett Olmsted and Brooke Murley. Joe was preceded in death by his dear cousin and buddy Brian Adair, his grandfather Edward J. Kelly and his uncle Jeffrey Siegel. Joe was a 2008 graduate of University School of Milwaukee, where he was a "lifer" and formed long, deep friendships. He was currently a junior at University of Denver majoring in economics. Joe had just returned from a semester abroad in Geneva, Switzerland, where he studied and worked as writer and editor for the International Center for Trade and Sustainable Development, a Non-Governmental Organization devoted to sustainable economic development. In his free time, he traveled as widely and spontaneously as possible. Throughout his life, Joe was a baseball guy. He pitched with great success for University School's varsity team, with a stinging fastball and vexing change-up resulting in a 9-0 record his senior year and 2008 First Team All-Conference. Joe was about to embark on his 3rd year on University of Denver's club baseball team, where he was their No. 1 starting pitcher and fast friend with a great group of fellow DU "Pioneers". To his friends, Joe was devoted, accepting, kind hearted, and reliable. He was a true friend, a gentle supportive brother, loving cousin, terrific son, grandson, nephew and teammate. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services 1:30 PM Monday, February 14, 2011, at Congregation Sinai, 8223 N. Port Washington Rd., Fox Point. Private interment will be held at Mound Zion Cemetery. Memorial gifts to Congregation Sinai or United Way of Greater Milwaukee are appreciated.

Dear Lubar Family, We would like to extend our deepest consolation over your great loss. Although I had never met Joseph personally, from the many expressions of tribute that I have heard, perhaps we all can take solace in the realization that God has allowed Joseph to positively affect more people in his relatively short time with us than most people will in their lifetime. Our prayers and condolences, Earl and Dolores Hill
