Joseph Olla Obituary

Olla, Joseph Phillip, Sr. Of Thiensville, died peacefully with his family at his side on January 28. He was able to tell Jewel, his wife of 61 years, how much he loved her before he entered into eternal life. Joe is survived by his "Baby doll" Jewel, their children Cheryl Olla Thorson (preceded in death by David Thorson), Char (Matt Feldhusen), Kathy (John Santini), Stephanie Dahl, Maria (Tom Robinette), Daniel (Sara) and Joseph JR (Martha). Papa was fortunate to have 18 loving grandchildren. Joe will be missed by his 21 great-grandchildren, his sister, Theresa of Milwaukee, Josie of Pittsburgh, and Chuck (Trish) of Milwaukee. His Brothers Tom and Sam and Sister Mary are waiting with open arms to greet him in his new life with God. He is further survived by many other family members, wonderful friends and caring neighbors. Joe will be missed by all who knew him. Joe was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 7, 1930 and moved to Milwaukee in 1948. He worked his entire life building his successful business Badger Fence. He loved spending time with his wife Jewel at their gorgeous 2nd home in Manzanillo, Mexico. He enjoyed many walks on his favorite beach and shared many laughs with friends. Visitation will be held at the Feerick Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 2, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, Thiensville at 138 W Buntrock Ave on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Donations in Joseph's name can be made to Casa Maria Hospitality House, 1131 N 21 St, Milwaukee, WI 53233 or Teen Challenge, 9222 W Appleton Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53225. The Olla family would like to give their sincerest thanks to the caring staff at Columbia/St. Mary's Ozaukee and Horizon Hospice. They made the transition for us very peaceful.

Char, I met your Father once....very briefly. I am so happy you had the chance to spend some wonderful times with him before he passed (from what you told me he was a very special person). I will never forget the video you shared with me as well. You Dad had an amazingly adorable personality.

The Lord bless you and watch guard and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you and enlighten you and be gracious, kind and merciful to you and give you favor. The Lord lift you and give you peace.

Your friend,
Lisa Cisler

My dearest Jewel, and Cheryl, Char, Kathy, Steph, Beanie, Danny and Joey. I will NEVER forget the very first time I laid eyes on Mr. Olla! I am quite sure he was coming in from outside, shirt off, bronzed tan, and oh so handsome! I know I looked at Beanie and Steph and proclaimed "that's YOUR dad?" I never knew a dad like him!! I still don't! He was as kind as he was handsome. It was for sure love at first sight~ meeting him and getting to know your entire family was/is one of my many best memories of my growing up. I am so truly sorry for your loss, I had heard he had some struggles these last couple of years....he has gone home to Jesus, and all the struggles are gone now!! I bet he's telling Jesus right now that the pearly gates could use an upgrade! Lately those gates have been opening up a lot, and letting in some fine people! My thoughts and prayers are with you!! Miss you Jewel...I still have your first painting!! Love Meg Mullaney Vartanian

To my Papa,
I'll miss our conversations, the constant laughter, watching the Packers, your kind soul, hearing you and Moms you would pillow talk and then giggle, your incredible stories, watching how truly in love you and Mom are with all your cute nicknames, arranging roses for you especially a combination of your favorite, white roses. Spoiling you, having you spot out the deer as they run around your beautiful yard, watching the leaves fall, all your great qualities, so many pleasurable moments, your handsome face in which I always love to touch. Decorating for you then you telling me that you love my blonde hair since I am the “light one” of the family, Talks around the Christmas tree in which you so enjoyed this past Christmas. The house looked stunning. We had the best decorations on Rosedale Dr. (sorry neighbors), but most of all, I'll miss everything about you.
Thank you for the past 5 months. I had you all to myself and enjoyed every minute of every day. What a pleasure you are! You were fortunate and oh so humble that you never complained about anything. You know Mom will always be well protected and loved. We'll all make sure of that! I was so heart broken and couldn't believe one of your last breathe was to tell me you love me. We had allot of “Love Yous”.
You're in heaven now Papa in the arms of God.
Love your baby baby doll Steph
